I have a cookbook passed down within the family that my great grandmother bought, then it went to my grandmother, then my mom, and now I have it. My granddaughter wants it but it's been used to the point of falling apart at seams. I wanted a way to preserve it but make sure it is protected. I decided to laminate the pages and put in several binders so my granddaughter can easy find everything. I was worried about the heat on such fragile paper but it pulls it through slowly and gently. The colors and words pop out. I just started on this project and have a long ways to go as this is a very thick book. I'll update when I am completely done with the cookbook to see how the machine holds up. It is amazingly easy to use. It did take me a few tries to get it straight going in but the release button works great if you need to pull it out to straighten it up. The only downside (very minor downside) is the machine puts off a good amount of heat. Even with the ac at 68, I was sweating. I would suggest a fan to cool you off but to also blow the heat away from you. Other than that, lovely machine at a great price. ... show more

I want to start out with the reason for 4 stars, even though the product is great. I thought maybe it would be fine if I ordered a used one to knock off a few dollars. It stated that it should be a WORKING product with minor scuffs and scratches, which I didn’t mind. As long as it works, right? Amazon, or whoever the 3rd party was, sent me the product, & the box, in big permanent marker, has “BROKEN” written on it. I gave it the benefit of the doubt & decided to see if it was true. Yup, it was true. It did not turn on at all. I did have to return it, but I hope they don’t try to resell it again. I ended up ordering a brand new one, & it works great!
