I have an unusual situation where I left an appliqued wall hanging for a few years. When I came back to it and started machine appliqueing the shapes down, I found the applique adhesive had gotten sticky under the fabric--to the point where I could only stitch an inch before my needle would totally gum up. I had hoped these needles would solve that but not so. Yes, I could go another inch or two before these needles would gum up but not enough for me to be able to sew shape after shape down. Maybe in a standard situation where you are doing the appliqueing right away they'd work, though I've never had an issue with the adhesive in that situation. ... show more

It didn't take very long for all of the non-stick surface to wear off. I was disappointed because these needles seemed like a great solution to the problem of gunk on the needle when sewing adhesives. They lasted less than 15 minutes of almost constant sewing before I had to pick off the nasty, sticky lint. Having said all this, they still managed to perform better than uncoated needled. Maybe schmetz should team up with Calphalon, idk. ... show more
