Top Amazon Reviews

  • Excellent for gaming & productivity!
I bought this for $520 last week (w/ the $80 coupon code found on google). Although it was down to $420 yesterday & sold out real fast. I could've repurchased & returned but my particular monitor had no dead pixels, minimal backlight bleed & no cosmetic defects of any sort. So I couldn't be bothered. Anyways, I've had my fair share of experiences w/ super ultrawide monitors from the CRG9 (5120x1440) to the Acer 43" 32:10. All being VA w/ great blacks & a curve. This particular monitor is IPS w/ no curve. Surprisingly, I don't miss the curve on this as the viewing angles are great & the size is just right (essentially 2 24" 1080P monitors side by side w/ no bezel). I did quite a bit of research on this monitor. This has been rebranded in many territories. Prism P438 is one & Skyworth F44G1 is another (tons of user reviews w/ pictures/videos if you do a google search "JD Skyworth F44G1). Pros: -Amazing viewing angles w/ great color reproduction compared to VA super ultrawides -Super bright (I measured around 630 nits at max without HDR, peaking around 700 w/ HDR) -Native contrast is higher than most IPS screens I've seen -120hz @ 10 bit w/ HDR & Gsync enabled (and overdrive on) works flawlessly via DP -24 vertical dimming zones for HDR (more than a lot of monitors are giving these days at this price) -65w USB charging -Solid stand w/ easy height/swivel/tilt adjustment -Customizable RGB lights on the back which makes for great bias lighting in the dark against a wall -Minimal backlight bleed, no dead pixels on my unit -Minimal ghosting during high paced FPS games (Apex, COD) on all overdrive settings -Incredible experience w/ gaming in 32:9, ingulfs your field of view -Comes w/ a remote -Using Windows 11 & the new snap features works wonders on 32:9, 1080P game in the middle w/ an app on each side (budget friendly streaming monitor) -Extremely good price for what you get Neutral: -The PPI, better known as pixels per inch is a hit or miss depending on what you're used to. It's around 91 which is essentially the same PPI as what you would get from a 24" 1080P monitor. Much better than those 3840x1080 49" monitors (PPI 81), but obviously a step down if you're used to higher pixel density. The immersion more than makes up for it. Cons: -Below average speaker, if you intend to use the sound from the monitor (I use headphones anyways) -I attempted to overclock the refresh rate past 120hz but was met w/ frame skipping (worth a shot) -I'm not a fan of the small LED in the front under the screen where the physical menu buttons are, not a huge deal but I wish I could turn it off -HDR w/ it's 24 vertical dimming zones is a hit or miss, it works great for some games but not for others simply due to the nature of IPS & dark scenes in conjunction w/ a limited dimming zone count Calibrated settings for black levels in a semi-lit to dark room without HDR (HDR locks nearly everything out) Mode: User Backlight: 35 (or lower) Brightness: 50 (any higher or lower is incorrect) Contrast: 57 (any higher & you start losing highlights) Gamma 2.2 DCR: OFF (too slow & not useful) Sharpness: 50 Temperature: Normal (is essentially Warm 1 in comparison to a lot of other monitors) I left individual color settings etc stock as it looks great to me on my particular unite & I don't have the required software to make any adjustments. I think that about does it. If I forgot to put anything or discover anything new, I'll be sure to update the review. Nevertheless, hope this helps anyone on the fence! Extremely happy w/ the purchase & would definitely recommend! ... show more

  • Excellent display for WFH productivity
While I'm sure it'll work well for gaming, this display excels at productivity enhancement. To be honest, the best option in a 2FD (3840x1080) or 2QHD (5120x1440) display would be a curved screen -- if possible, one with a 1000R curvature. This display is *flat*. Flatter than the Iowa cornfields. That's fine if, like me, you bought it to use as a work from home primary display, a function it accomplishes with aplomb. This puppy gives you the equivalent of two 1920x1080 FHD displays in a single 44 inch (okay, 43.8", happy now?) unit. It's not lightweight, and it's terribly fragile, so PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE keep your original packaging and use that if you're planning to transport this display ANYWHERE outside your home. But as far as how it works, it's a winner. The IPS display is clear and bright, with good color reproduction and very little backlight bleed when viewing black background. The best selling point of this monitor? Assuming Amazon hasn't raised the price since I bought mine, they're selling it for the ridiculously low price of $499.99. It MSRP's at $999.99 on Sceptre's own website, so take that for what it's worth. Did I mention that it comes with two HDMI cables and a battery-powered remote? It does. Furthermore, it supports its full resolution at up to 120Hz via HDMI, DP1.4, and (believe it or not) USB-C. And it supports AMD FreeSync Premium. And it's VESA Certified for HDR600. And, oh yeah, if the resolution I mentioned above (3840x1080) hasn't clued you in, its aspect ratio is 32:9. It's a quality monitor that works excellently as a productivity enhancer, and probably works well for gaming, at an absolute STEAL of a price. Buy one while they're still dirt cheap. You won't regret it. ... show more

  • Nice, clean look w/ just the right stuff; but beware the PBP/multiwindow mode
First time having a sort of all white setup in my office/game room and everything looks rather nice and clean, and stylish as well. The LED light on the back of the monitor complements the LED on my keyboard (Red Dragon K550W) and mouse (Red Dragon M602W) - all a perfect match. The lights has three settings that can be changed from the on-screen display (OSD) menu using the remote/buttons - streaming or steady w/ a color of your choice; or just no light at all. This monitor has just the right width for multi-viewing/multitasking. Actually, the screen was wide enough that this animation wallpaper that I used on my previous monitor revealed a few more extra characters that I never got to see until this monitor came along. I didn't realize how long that wallpaper was and how much more crisp the colors were. And, as far as having multiple display on the same monitor, Windows 11 has a built-in feature that's similar to Microsoft PowerToys' FancyZones where the display can be manipulated to have many different layouts. So either use the built in feature from Windows, or use FancyZones - lots of layout to choose from. PROs: The price is affordable enough. Easy to assemble. Stable , solid metal base. The neck/body has a hole that makes for a good cable management. Whether that design was intended or not, I find it really rather useful. It also slides/extends easily for height adjustment. The display itself renders a rich dark black color for night scenes or dark alleys in games or movies where I normally see as grey/dark grey pixels on my cheaper AcerS230 monitor. The remote is a plus as it makes changing the display inputs/sources a bit more convenient. CONs: Volume can only come from one source whether it's on PIP or PBP mode. It doesn't auto select based from the source, that part has to be manually chosen from the OSD menu each time you switch sources which is not very efficient. Whenever you switch sources or multi-display mode, the monitor goes completely dark. At one point when I pressed the PBP button on the remote, and then pressed the Multiwindow button right after, the screen went completely dead and wouldn't come back up. Thankfully, unplugging the power cable from the monitor for a few seconds and then plugging it back it brought it back up. I have my PC connected to HDMI 1 for the higher refresh rate and connected a streaming box on HDMI 2 and tried using the PIP mode. For PIP mode, there are three preset sizes for the mini-display that floats on top of the main display (coming from HDMI1 in this case). IMO, this mode is not very pleasing as the mini-display has a fixed height; only the width changes which makes it look like a smaller version of this entire display - short and wide. The whole thing rather looks awkward and weird. It would be better off not using the PIP mode at all because of that. Other thoughts: Instead of using either of the multiwindow mode, it's best to just open another browser on the screen and do a side by side window if you're one of those people like me who like to stream and do other stuff at the same time. It is much less of a hassle. ... show more
