Description

This 608ZZ shielded 8x22x7 miniature ball bearing is a single-row bearing for supporting radial loads. The bearing is made of carbon steel for durability and resistance to deformity under heavy loads, and is shielded to keep lubricant in and contaminants out. it has a revolutions per minute (RPM) limit of 34,000 with grease lubrication. The dimensions of this bearing make it suitable for use in skateboards, inline skates, and scooters, among others. These bearings come in a pack of 20. Rolling bearings use rolling elements to maintain the separation between moving parts to reduce rotational friction and support radial and axial loads. These elements can be one of the following types: ball, cylindrical, spherical, barrel, needle, spindle, or tapered. All rolling bearings are open, shielded, or sealed. Sealed bearings are lubricated with oil or grease in the bearing factory, while open and shielded bearings are meant to be lubricated in place, with periodic reapplication of lubrication, based on use. The shield protects the working parts of the bearing from environmental debris that may be introduced and could reduce the ball bearing speed and lifespan. Rolling bearings are used in a range of applications from agricultural machinery to conveying equipment, robotics,dental equipment, elevators, rolling mills, ship rudder shafts, and aggregate crushers, among others.     • Expect 1 bad one per tube. The rest are good though.
I keep a stockpile of these on hand for my 3D printing projects; a lot of them require these bearings. I bought two tubes of 10, and took them all out. One in each tube was "Crunchy", bound up and unusable. The rest seemed perfectly fine though. They still seem to have a thin film of oil from manufacturing, which protects from rust. Previous bearings from a different company didn't have the oil, and rusted up quickly in storage. There's a bit of friction when spinning, but that might just be the grease used inside. I imagine you could soak them in oil or some kind of solvent to remove the grease and get them spinning freely. For the price, I wouldn't trust them for anything super heavy duty or something that human life depends on, but for small projects these are great. ... show more

I bought these to use for some 3D prints. They are skateboard bearings, so they come pre-greased. I would have preferred to have non-greased bearings, but it makes sense that they would be greased.

    • Work great once sprayed with WD40
Like others mentioned, these come packed in grease and nicely stacked in tubes. Once you spray a dab of WD40 on them they spin very freely and the dimensions are accurate from what I can see. I did receive one that was slightly damaged but the rest were all good. I would buy these again.

I used these bearing to repair some Adult Assistance Walkers, for the elderly people that reside at the Adult Foster Care/Assisted Living facility, where my wife works at. They were going to throw them out, because the wheels were 'wobbly'. She figured that I could probably fix them & save them from going into the dumpster. These fit & worked perfectly! I was happy & pleased with the quality of the bearings, especially for the price. Be sure to check the size bearing that you are going to need for your application or repair. As they do come in very many different sizes. I must add...Shipping was Super Crazy Quick for these too! I was able to repair 3 walkers with this bearing package/kit. I made the Senior Citizens at the facility very Happy! Being able to use Safe, Smooth Rolling Walkers again. I was a 'Hero' in my wife's eyes...even for one day...so, I'll take it! ... show more

    • Maybe good enough for robotics
You’re probably looking at these because they have a good price point, which they do. And that really low price point is the only reason they’re not even more lowly rated. The bearings come heavily coated with grease - enough that it actually hinders rotation. It seems like this is done because it also hides imperfections in the bearings. After clearing the bearings they rotate much more freely, but have a definite wobble to some of them. I compare them to a 20 year old set of real ABEC 7 bearings in my rollerblades and these are definitely not ABEC 7. So, if you’re looking for some bearings for a robotics project where they’re on an idler pulley, these are fine. But if you think you’re gonna drop these into a board or skates, keep looking. ... show more

    • Inaccurate, damaged, unreliable
I had several damaged bearings that could hardly turn and one where the shielding came off completely. Minor issues are the outer diameter is small by about 0.5mm and they wobble quite a bit. I use these for little 3D printer project but I doubt I would ever put these on a skateboard.

Used on rollators for a 270lbs person. She likes to try to get the thing to turn on the none turning wheels while she's sitting on it and twists the bearings apart. After destroying 3 rollators because I didn't know what part to buy, these make it not matter. Pop out the old one, push in the new one and off we go again. As far as durability, she has destroyed one of these yet going on 8 months. So better than the original. ... show more
