The Saalt disc has been an absolute game changer for me. I have a hypertonic pelvic floor (increased muscle tone of the pelvic floor muscles). I’ve done physical therapy for it several times but it is just a chronic issue for me. Because of the increased muscle tone, I’m unable to use tampons because they cause a lot of pain. I also get chronic BV (bacterial vaginosis) and tampons are a huge culprit for me. I HATE wearing pads, so period underwear was my solution for a long time. They’re a great option and I still use them off and on. I just personally wanted to try to find something that could contain the blood IN my body, like a tampon. I heard about menstrual cups and discs and wanted to give them a shot. Cup vs Disc I tried the cup first as it seemed the easiest to use. For me personally, it didn’t matter the size (S,M,L) of the cup, it was just too big. I could constantly feel it, and because of my HPF it caused pain. I researched and most women say they can’t feel it at all, and that the little “tail” that hangs out like a tampon string should not be felt. Because of my increased muscle tone, things are a bit…tight…down there, and I could feel the tail of cup. Next I tried the disc. I was pretty intimidated since there isn’t any kind of tail to gel pull out the disc once it is inserted. I didn’t understand how I’d be able to find it! Being honest, the first couple times you just have to get REAL personal with yourself. The Saalt disc came with instructions and there were some instructional videos that I found in their website as well, and I just tried to mess around with it and see what works best. For me, inserting it while sitting on the toilet works best. I just fold it in half and make sure the finger notch is at the front, and Insert it until I can feel it behind my pubic bone. If it’s where it’s supposed to be I don’t feel it at all! When it’s time to remove it I just slide my finger up to where I can find the notch, bear down like I’m trying to poop, and that causes the muscles to push it forward to where I can hook my finger in the notch and remove it. It’s honestly really easy once you get used to it. Since using the Saalt Disc I have so much more confidence around my time of the month. I use the pink disc, which is the small one, because I have not had children. It seems to be the perfect fit for me. I’ve never had any leaks. I have even put it to the test and used it while having sex, and STILL no leaks! Certain positions were uncomfortable with it in, but effective communication with my partner made it to where we could both enjoy the process. The disc is easy to clean, compact, and I’ve been using the same one for over a year now. I’m about to replace it just because I feel like it’s time. I’ve been using the Saalt disc/cup wash that you can purchase, and I’ve had very good luck with it. Since I’m replacing my old disc though, I’m going to try out the Saalt cup steam sterilizer and see how I like it! Long story short, if you have any of the same health issues that I do, OR if you want to try it for mess free period sex, I highly recommend the Saalt Disc. I have been using sustainable period products since before they were cool. I bought my first Diva Cup as a teen back in 2006. IMO, menstrual cups are a much better option than tampons, but I never loved them. There was always a slight but tolerable level of discomfort. After having kids, I found that every type caused some pain. The Saalt soft cup was the best, but still uncomfortable. I mostly switched to reusable pads and just dealt with the mess. Then, a friend recommended the Flex disc as an alternative. I was shocked by how comfortable it was, but it leaked. So that was still much better, but not ideal. Then I found this Saalt disc, which seemed like the perfect product and IT IS! I barely noticed I was on my period, because I was able to leave it in all day without ANY discomfort. On my heaviest day, I did have to empty it once, but every other day was totally maintenance free. Also, this is the only product that has ever delivered on the ‘mess free period sec’ promise. At first - I was skeptical. Now - I’m like , I should’ve bought this sooner. I will say that though it has the little finger nook for easy grabbing, I personally can’t grab and sometimes have trouble but I just have to get used to it and also the position helps, but I feel around the rim and just pull . Is it messy - sometimes but I’m ready for a shower all the time in case or wet wipes help too. It is a lifesaver knowing if it’s placed correctly, no stains and can be there for a bit longer than a pad or tampon. It’s also great for mess free period sex , I was skeptical at first but it’s magic. I’ve had the saalt disc for about a year now. At first it was painful when I tried it. But I realized the notch that is for your finger to help remove the disc was pressing on my pubic bone and causing the pain. So I decided to try using it with the notch facing the side while inserting instead and the issue was resolved without needing to buy a 3rd menstrual product to test. Definitely saved me money this year from not needing to buy disposable period products. And nice to not have to run to the store at the last minute when you start and don’t have enough tampons.     • My periods are so easy now

This is the best disc I’ve tried. I was using disposable flex discs, but they slipped out of place sometimes and I wanted something reusable and environmentally friendly. I got the smaller salt disc, and it fits perfectly! It doesn’t slip out of place at all and goes up and in further than the other ones. No leaks! Removal isn’t so bad, but I like to slide my finger into the top edge from above instead. hooking it from the bottom hasn’t worked so well for me. It’s super easy to wash, store, and reuse, I wear it all night, change it every 12 hours, and then use a reusable cloth pad as backup just in case. So far I’ve had no leaks with the Saalt disc though! Highly recommend giving it a try to make periods easier, it’s an investment at first but saves a ton of money in the long run.
