They are perfect for rice, miso, ice cream, sides, and any smaller portioned foods! They are textured so if the sound of your utensils scraping on ceramic grates your ears, they might not be for you.

I bought 4 just to evaluate how they would work with a clumsy, old man. I love them, will be buying 4 more and then 8 plates to match. I end up with chipped everything but these seem like they're going to last a really long time. Plus, I like the look, the finish and the weight of the ceramic. Great product. One warning.....these don't stack well, so they do take up more space in my cabinets than the chipped stuff I'm throwing out. :) I bought some salad plates, and they stack very nicely. ... show more

I've had the 'black and grey' variety for 1-1/2 years, and can say that they have been worthy of being treasured. The ample capacity makes them a tad more useful than your typically sized bowls. I have appreciated the first set so much, I decided to acquire an additional set in 'navy blue'. The prior purchase has a matte textured surface that feels pleasant in the hand, while the latest selection is more glossy and smooth to the touch; there really isn't much difference they both have the typical feel of ceramics, not too tacky or slippery. Additionally, both are quality-crafted and chip-resistant. [Note: I must state that one of the bowls (from the first set) ended up cracked clean through, though I have no idea how so (I'm not culpable, I live with others). Still, it never split apart through subsequent use, and I believe they are sturdily built and will last without limit - the guilty party must have been quite reckless imo.] In closure, if at times you like to consume a bit more than average or your recipes call for bigger portions, these bowls will suit your needs. Love these bowls visually and they don’t feel cheap at all. The only slightly negative detail is that when i put soup in microwave the bowl will get extremely hot , but the soup will not even be warm sometimes. So i will usually have to heat it several minutes longer than with other bowls I have. But I don’t regret the purchase, they are great looking bowls. ... show more

I got the blue with matching sandwich plates. You won't be embarrassed to use these when company calls. If you like to make a full meal out of a salad, these are definitely big enough. High temp kiln fired I guess. I've use the plates at 475 in the air fryer.
