  • Correct part & fit
Exact replacement for a trailer door.

  • Replacement Door Lock Assembly works better than the original.
The old one is easily removed by taking off the 2 screws on the edge plate. You need to do this to get enough wiggle room to pull the assembly out. Next pull off the dead bolt handle. It is secured by a c clip. I just took a pair of pliers and pulled it off. I pushed the new one on, but did not use the c clip. Not necessary. On the inside, remove the 4 screws and push the assembly in and away from the door to remove it. Throw a little oil into the key hole, and bolt mechanism. Push the new one in, opposite of the way you took the old one out. Attach with one screw, then attach the plate. Using blue tape, align the mechanism, so that it is square with the end of the door, and is pushed together. Attach the 3 remaining screws, tighten like an auto tire lugs, and test. Attach the new dead bolt handle. Our old door assembly was changed because the key lock stopped working. After replacing it, I realized that old one was sticking. The new one, opens and closes with out any effort. The key holes have a little moon on one side of it. To put the key it, put the key at a slight angle, and it will slide to key hole cover out of the way, and then turn the key. If you try to put the key in directly, it will not go. I am assuming this makes it harder to pick. Overall, first time I have done this, and in and out in less than an hour. I am going to buy another, and keep it as a spare. ... show more

  • Worked great
This was fairly to use. I struggled a little but but that may have been because of my lack of ever doing it before. Once installed it worked perfectly.

  • Great replacement lock for original equipment!
Seems like a good lock to me! Now, somebody up there in the comments said something about being locked out. I can see what may have confused him...I DID find it difficult to insert the key into the lock-slots. I find that inserting the key at an angle toward that small, half-round space in the middle of the lock-slot causes the key to go in. I THINK it is that way to make it more difficult to pick the lock... which is good! Just that, it is a bit of a nuisance and the instructions should have pointed that out. Anyway, the lock is sturdy, appears well made, and looks like, if one keeps it lubricated, it will last a long time... as long as _I_ don't lose all the keys to it again! (That's what happen to the original lock.) ... show more

  • Perfect fit
This was a perfect fit for the trailer and easy to install.

  • Very Low Quality. Handle catches. Open gap next to lever - can see light, rain gets in.
Handle catches when operating inside lever; like there is a tight spot halfway through the opening motion - a "crunch" can sometimes be heard. From the outside, next to the pivot/rounded part of the handle; you can clearly see a gap next to it. At night, you can see a strip of light coming from inside the trailer. This allows rain to come in when there is more than a light rain. Found out after having it in storage for several months... the rain coming in through this handle has rotten a section of the floor. ... show more
