  • First clean out successful
First chimney liner clean out successful. Rods were able to navigate the ~35/40 degree bend in the liner without issue. Flexible yet sturdy enough to give a good brushin. Was hesistant of the rods coming undone, so I added a little duct tape to each connection as I inserted them into the liner. Maybe overkill, but didn't feel like going fishing downhole. ... show more

  • Good price - well crafted - would buy again
Very simple screw on design. They do what they are meant to do and come in a pack that is an appropriate size. They flex well and hold up well. I would like to see some type of locking system in these to keep the ends screwed together. You have to make sure to spin in the correct direction or you run the risk of loosening one of the connections and losing your rods inside the chimney. Also, screwing them on one at a time as you go is safer than screwing a bunch together at once prior to starting. I once screwed them all together and then started working but during that process some of the previously screwed on items loosened and I had a small issue where the last 2 sections fell off and I had to get a hook up there and fish them out. Certainly an expert knows all this and doesnt do stupid things like I did. However, a small locking collar of some type could be a great solution. I would be willing to pay more for a model with locking collars or some sort of attachment system ... show more

  • wish I could find rods with the poly brush that I could use with a drill
Order was ok, did the job. Brush worked excellent. I am happy I got piping for pellet stove cleaned.

  • rod is not stiff enough
tried using this and rod is just too flexible and coils inside the chimney pipe as i tried to push through the heaviest build up right near the stove. had to resort to some macgivering to get it past that spot. in the upper parts of the chimney where build up is light it's barely stiff enough. issue is exacerbated on the tall chimneys, the longer the rod the more likely it would want to flex and coil up in the pipe. ... show more

  • Chimney rods - good balance of strength and flex
I have a 25 foot pellet stove chimney. Dragging the cleaning brush through with twine was NOT a smooth process. These flexible rods were expensive, but after my first cleaning with them, they are worth the money. All the sections screw together easily, I was able to use all but one section pushing the brush up the pipe from ground level (before bending prevent the brush from moving). Since I have 25' of chimney, I have to go on the roof as well, and pushing the brush down, I was able to use all the sections. On the inside, I have about 5 feet of pipe with a 90 degree bend...I was able to use several sections of rod and push the brush through the bend. All clean and definitely less work overall for me! ... show more

  • Great for pellet stove with 4 inch aluminum liner
This Rod Kit is perfect - its not made of fiberglass, but plastic - which is ideal for a pellet stove with an aluminum liner. I have a T at the end, but need to move in some 30 deg agle to get into the liner and sweep it out from the bottom - this kit does the job perfectly and I had no fear of it getting stuck or loose, the screw-connection is very sturdy - only one segment did not screw in all the way - I used that one for the last bit just in case. This kit saved me a 200 USD visit from the chimney sweep and its super easy to use (albeit messy affair). Make sure you get the right sweeping head for this Rod kit ! ... show more

  • Makes cleanouts easy!
These being flexible is why I bought them. But be aware that if the brush hits a spot that it doesn't easily push through it takes a little more effort to pull it out some and try again until you get it. They are perfect for my application of cleaning my pipes from the clean out on the bottom. Because they are flexible I don't have to attach them one at a time as I feed them into the pipe, I can just keep them together for the whole process. ... show more
