  • This is a great little catch can! (updated)
Color: With Bracket kit-Black Size: With Bracket
I was very skeptical about trying this inexpensive oil catch can from a few other reviews, but I'm glad I did. I just completed a manifold replacement and my old, original manifold, had at least a quart of oil sloshing around in it! And, it had leaked out making me think I had an oil leak! All from the PCV valve carrying heavy oil/gas vapor back into the manifold to get dumped back into the intake manifold and only partially burned...what a terrible thing to do to a throttle body, intake manifold and engine! So I looked for a inexpensive oil catch can to try. It's actually very good quality. The other reviews I read said to throw away the hose that comes with it. Well, they must have upgraded the hose to some good, steel braided hose, with a nylon weaved sheath. Very nice, and it looks good too. I used a large electrical cable lopper to cut it. The braid is sharp edged, be careful. I did throw away the small hose clamps, as not needed, but they did seems rather cheap in quality, but the can itself has a nice screw on bottom with an o-ring to seal it. I recommend you grease it lightly to keep from tearing it when tightening and loosening it. I did not use the included aluminum mounting bracket, as I needed a small custom mount for it, but it was nicely coated black. No matter what vehicle you have, you WILL have to get creative and find a place and a way to mount this. Keep your hose runs as short as possible. The can itself is anodized aluminum, so it will not rub off like paint. The last thing I did was to add a small o-ring to better seal the dipstick and I used Permatex liquid thread sealant on the hose barbs. It comes with three different sizes of hose barbs. The medium size barbs fit tightly on the included hose just fine. I saw no need for a hose clamp on them. It's only a slight vacuum after all. I was able to push the braided hoses into the 70 degree corner hose adapter fittings that came on my engine. (PCV valve output and manifold input) The catch can has markings for input and output. I'll update the review when I catch some oil with it. It HAS to work. You know, physics.. (UPDATE: After just 350 miles it has collected about a tablespoon or more of oil! (.5+ oz) This is outstanding. This equates to about a quart of oil per 20,000 mi. being poured down your throttle body and into your intake manifold. SO glad I bought and did this addition! ) ... show more

  • Quality product
Color: Black Size: Without Bracket
This is a quality product. Make sure you receive EVERYTHING that is in the ad. My first order didn’t have the hose barbs. I didn’t think it was a problem till finding out they were Metric. Product was returned, and Replacement was received in 3 days. You will have to figure a way to mount it.

  • It does exactly what it's designed to do
Color: With Bracket kit-Black Size: With Bracket
This was extremely easy to install, once I found a flat spot on my firewall. I will parrot what others have said, the hose that comes with it is junk. Mine was kinked right out of the box and stayed that way even after I straightened it and warmed it up. Easy fix, bought a length of fuel line, cut it to the lengths I needed, and all is well. It's doing its job and keeping the oil from collecting in my intake and no longer gumming up my valves. ... show more

  • Difficult to Install
Color: With Bracket kit-Black Size: With Bracket
I had to purchase 5/8 inch heater hose to adapt to the fittings on the 3.5 EcoBoost engine. The supplied hose is a pathetic replication of a hose that would be advisable for this unit to work properly. It's a great hose, just not for the situation. Mounting the canister presented some real problems. In contrast to the video's on installing this canister one has to make sure it can be easily opened. Too many other hoses and wires interfering with obvious locations. But I managed to get it installed. Now will wait to see if it does what it's intended to do. ... show more

  • It does its job

I am happy with this. I've had it for a couple months now and it works well. It has eliminated oil from entering my carburetor. I was happily surprised with this product.

  • Good quality can, toss the hose.
Color: Red Size: Without Bracket
The can is very solid feeling, and the fittings are good too. I really like that they include several fitting sizes and oring for each. They also include the oil resistant thread seal tape, and lots of it. I had plenty to cover both fittings and the dipstick thread as well. Remember to wrap the tape around approximately three times, and in the correct direction so it won't unravel the tape as you tighten the threads. I still had so much tape I could have wrapped everything again. As others have said, the hose is...well. It is listed as high pressure fuel hose. After extensive testing, I found it will only collapsed under the extreme pressure of blocking one side and inhaling through the other. I wouldn't even bother. I personally like the multiduty hose you can find at most auto shops. After driving it 40 miles, it doesn't appear to have and vacuum leaks, but I'll still do a spray down test as well. After a couple of days of driving, impatience got the better of me. I popped it open and found some fresh oil caught. Not much, but more than I'd like to see. So it not only caught some oil from being burned off, but it also told me I have a bad PCV valve. Nice benefit there! The hose for mine is a 5/16...part number H1704 at napa. Other hose sizes will be similar numbers. Only a couple dollars per foot. The clamps worked perfectly for the hose too. Edit: No idea why I gave this 4/5 stars. Absolutely deserves 5/5, apologies to the seller/company. Replaced my PCV valve and pulled the can again. I don't know how well it show in the picture but it really looks like chocolate milk, so it is working phenomenally. Here's to hoping it doesn't have to work overtime now! My 30 year old motor is stock, but sounds incredibly smooth even at high rpms, so hoping this will help with any further excessive wear and keep it running even longer.
