    • Speed cube with magnets is the way to go.
Color: New Version: Rubik's Magnetic Speed Cube
Don't settle for less. The original is cheaper but it is a real turn off because it is so stiff. And there is a speed cube version without magnets but it is super sloppy. Get this one and you have a toy that is precise and a joy to play with.

    • My new favorite Rubik's puzzle!
Color: Impossible 3x3 New
This puzzle is wonderful on multiple levels. It is my new favorite twisty puzzle, hands down. Just for a start, the visual effects of the lenticular tiles are more interesting than is easily conveyed in photos. From certain angles, each of your eyes may see the same tile as a different color; ironically, this sometimes means perceiving so-called "impossible colors" like yellow-blue or red-green as your brain tries to combine the visual inputs. The main thing I love is that this puzzle is genuinely challenging even for someone who has played with many twisty puzzles. There are two different solutions; the first is shown in the product photos and videos where each side appears as a solid color from a particular angle. This is quite a fun challenge by itself. But the second solution is substantially harder, and really raises the challenge level beyond what I expected! For the second solution, each side "twinkles" the correct color as one views it from changing angles, but there is no single perspective where all tiles on one side show the same color. The one "clue" as to which tiles were correct for the first solution (they show the same color at the same time) is of no help at all in finding the second... instead it was a deduction problem, and quite the mental workout! There is still room for improvement in the design and implementation. Many of the colors can be difficult to tell apart... a tile that shifts between red and yellow might sometimes appear to be orange, for example. The "classic" Rubik's colors are probably not the ideal choice for this sort of puzzle. All in all though, I'm glad this product exists and love the idea! ... show more

My husband loved it as did the friends who also played with it. It is well made. But it is difficult to get the colors to show up and then they quickly change back to black. If you look carefully, you can make an educated guess about the color for most squares. But it is a challenge.

MGC is the best brand ever of Magnetic Cube. Very high quality and good magnetic strength. I have a 7x7 MGC Rubik’s Cube also. Nice size and can take a good drop without breaking. Easy to move in any direction. Very smooth glossy bright colors.
