When you get these lures, in the box it says to leave an honest review if you want. I’m not really big on leaving reviews, but I felt I needed to let others know how well these work. I’ve always been a fan of the “Joe’s Flies” brand of trout lures and they work well enough, but one thing I notice about them is that the treble hook on them constantly hooks the line when you cast them. That can be very annoying….the Roxstars cast much better and hardly ever have that issue. They have a “dual” hook that is tied on to the end of them vs the treble on the Joe’s brand. Another benefit of the dual hook is that you can remove it without having to cut it off. There are some places that you cannot use anything but a single hook, so this is nice to have that option of removing it and then replacing it if you need to. The dual hook isn’t the strongest thing and I had one of them bend on a pretty big brown trout that I caught. The lures seem to be of very good quality and they are very smooth when retrieving them. Only one thing I didn’t like about them is that the body hackle came unraveled on some of them, and they do warn you that the fish will “slam” them and this can happen. They say that it makes it look like a “tail” and the fish like it more…..not sure if they like it more, but it certainly didn’t seem to affect the performance of them. It won’t fall off or anything, it just makes them a little longer. You can see in the photos the “before” and “after” pictures from when I got them and from when trout fishing stopped. I lost the white one….☹️. The quality of these lures is superior in every way to the Joe’s brand. The detail of the fly on these is fantastic and I caught lots more fish. Where other lures would not work, I put one of these on and they hit it instantly. I was mostly after trout, but smallmouth bass seem to really go for these also. So to sum it all up, get yourself some of these and you’ll get more fish. I have a freezer full of trout to testify to that. The only regret I have, is that I lost one of them. When I lose the others, I will absolutely be getting more of these, they are fantastic! Great job Roxstar! ... show more

These lures seem pretty good. Good cast distance I’ve caught 3 baby bass with it today and it held up fine. Will say it is hard to hook set a larger fish. Would buy again so far so good

I received these and fished them heavy in river and lake fishing. They do catch fish as I did catch several trout and a SM bass. The only flaw I see is the two prong trail hook as it is tied on instead of connected with a swivel or any metal. It tends to get hook up on the material of the fly itself which causes for multiple adjustments to fix it to throw again. I do not have that problem with a Joe Fly. With that said, I did catch as many fish with these lures as I did with the Joe fly and feel it performed slightly better than the rooster tails and panther martins. Overall I’m happy with the purchase and would recommend them but only if a Joe Fly isn’t available. 4 stars ⭐️ ⭐️⭐️⭐️ I’d be happy to try out more products from this company. ... show more

I just want to let everyone know that these lures are absolutely very effective. I was on the lake throwing all types of lures, you name it. I came across the case of 5 I purchased and put one on and Boom. I caught trout after trout immediately. I ended up trolling with one and casting one and stayed busy catching them. The media could not be loaded. The lure itself stands up to something like twenty catches each before the trout cut off the fur and string. Sturdier than any “fly” I’ve used. The hooks are high quality and everything stay tight. The spin action stay true and effective. As for presentation, the striker flys are phenomenal. Almost every cast in a Michigan Blue Ribbon Trout stream results in a Brooke or a brown. The problem; you can’t keep the fish off!!! Even the little guys, so you are constantly trying to reel in faster than the fish chasing it so you don’t have to carefully pull out hooks from little guys. 10/10 recommend. Been catching quite a few fish with the 1/4 lures I bought. I’m not a big fan of the 2/3 treble hanging off the back of the lure since most bites I’ve gotten have been on the single point. I ended up cutting the trebles off and since the rivers in my area are supposed to be single point barbless. I still get the same amount of hook ups as I did without the treble and less snags. Another thing is the metal shaft is a little weak and after a decent sized fish or a snag the lure will be bent out of shape and won’t swim as good. This has been a little annoying but after mending it back to original shape it swims just fine. With all of this being said I’ll probably be buying more. ... show more
