As others have noted, there are dozens of tasks where I wish I'd had a laser line to help out. This is especially valuable for line of sight tasks that span multiple yards across a distance outdoors, such as aligning a pergola with a brick path. This unit is a help, but as others have noted, you have to mount the item on something while you assess the results, make markings, etc. You may not need this for every situation, but a good mount proved essential for mine.
