  • So far so good - with updates.
Color: Olive Drab Size: 11 Wide
Can’t give them 5 stars because I’ve only been wearing them one week at the time of this review. But so far so good. They are oversized but the product description states that. I got some cheap inserts and that took care of that. I’ve been wearing them everyday for a week in rough working conditions. I wanted these for the hard rubber soles because I run a high risk of stepping on rusty nails sticking through boards. These are my first jungle boots. The canvas uppers seem to keep my feet cooler, I don’t know why. Also, the canvas uppers make these boots easier to lace and they slip on and off a lot easier than what I’m used to. I haven’t ran into any of the problems yet that I’ve seen in these reviews. None of the bootlace eyelets have popped out and the drain grommets are still intact. The leather looks to be real. It’s not cracking and splitting anywhere yet. I shine the boots at the end of the day. I bought these to use for a big cleanup project and then throw away. But I may hold onto them. I like them more and more. My girl friend asked me to order her a pair, I tried to dissuade her, but ended up ordering her a pair. I have no idea how that will go. Anyway, I can’t give them a 5 because I’ve only had them a week. I got these so that I won’t get a nail through my foot. Nice boots have soft glued on soles that aren’t going to stop a nail. Update: been wearing these almost daily for over a month. I feel justified in elevating my rating of them from a four star to a five star. Update: It’s now October 15th, 2021. Still no problems. Included a photo of me wearing them. I like them. They lace up fast, the canvas uppers facilitates slipping them on, they take a good shine and are comfortable (with insoles). And they just look so damned good! ... show more

  • One of the best budget boots I’ve owned.
Color: Olive Drab Size: 10 Wide
-I’ve worn these boots on several terrain types and they’ve done wonderfully as far as comfort with exception for rocky terrain, in which you can virtually feel every rock under your step. -Great tread grip, no complaint there. -Panama sole began to separate from the boot but only needed minor shoe gooing. -Leather is cheap but durable and flexible. -The laces are garbage and were immediately replaced with speed lace. -The canvas carries a stench but I oddly find it satisfying to smell lol. -Boots are lightweight which is outstanding. -I usually wear an 11 or 11.5. A 10W was perfect for me. -Overall I love the look and fit of the boot. Conclusion: If you just want a pair of jungle boots but are on a budget these aren’t bad at all. They’re comfortable once broken in, and for the price durable as hell. Some people have given these bad reviews, but after a few months of hiking and rucking with a 50lb pack for upwards of 12 miles at a time, these boots have surpassed any expectations I had regarding them. ... show more

  • Decent boot for insanely wide feet but corners were cut during manufacturing
Color: Olive Drab Size: 13 Wide
If you have feet that measure wider than the "4E" option many companies offer this boot does a pretty good job of handling your flippers. I measure from toe to heel as an 10.5 or 11 US but constantly have to buy 2 or 3 sizes higher just to accommodate the width. 13 wide worked for me. It is a little long in the toe and I probably could have gotten away with a 12.5 wide but it isn't offered. Either way, the construction of the boot is overall very good. The boots do have the updated "Panama" sole making it easier to slick mud out of the grooves by stomping on hard ground or with a stick. If you aren't familiar with Vietnam era Jungle boots, these are not water proof. Instead they feature a drain grommet in the sides that will push water out with every step. If you intend to use these for hiking or rucking be sure to pair these with quick drying socks. They also do NOT come with any sort of insole so you will have to add your own, which in my case is a benefit considering the price of the boots is low and I usually toss the pair of insoles for my favorites either way. The most unforgivably lazy manufacting practice in this boot is the lack of washer backings in the eyelets. From the factory, both boots simply had their eyelet grommets folded into themselves with the press dye. This leaves an unfinished, sharp metal surface friction fit into the leather holes, which will pop out easily when the laces are tightened. After 3 months of use they frayed the included boot laces. Since the other aspects of the boot met my standards I opted to replace the eyelets entirely myself, (Pictured on the left boot, right boot still has the OEM eyelets). Additionally none of the exposed leather surfaces have been treated with a tragacanth gum and those ends will fray after a few uses. I would like to give these boots at least 4 stars for their price and fit, however I actually am using these in a jungle setting and need them to stand up to at least 6 months of work prior to replacement. If you are even the slightest bit handy you can replace and treat the issues with this boot yourself. ... show more

  • Suffering a lack of Quality
Color: Black Size: 9
Let me start by saying that I was excited for these boots. I've been wanting jungle boots for a while, especially the Rothco brand as they seemed to be relatively high quality. I've watched reviews, looked at how exactly they're built, and have worn several pairs about a decade ago. These are so low quality it's borderline upsetting. I've had them for a grand total of 4-5 days and I'm already considering throwing them out. Massively uncomfortable, even after multiple attempts at forming the leather, the eyelets are extremely poorly made, the sizing seems completely inaccurate. All around an avoid for me. After the first two outings in these, two eyelets on the left boot and three eyelets on the right had worked themselves out of their seating. When not addressed, this can cause fraying or cutting of the boot lace. The sizing of the boots seems to be all over the place, both are marked as a 9R, but one boot shows obvious bulging along the front edges and doesn't seat the insole the same way as the other. I can't recommend these boots to anyone - I even went as far as informing a friend I'd no longer be buying him a pair as a gift. ... show more
