First off, if you're not familiar, you have to scratch the surface with a fork or something similar. By roughing it up it increases the surface area and allows the resin to adhere to the bow hair. Super easy to use Quality seems quite good considering the price. It certainly helps the sound considering that it makes better contact with the strings. It's difficult to say though if it improves the tonal qualities of that sound. I got this four pack in which each comes in a plastic case with a lid. I like that the lid offers a little protection. I've seen larger rosins but this size is perfect considering the larger ones take more effort to use evenly i.e. with the bigger ones, you have to rub the bow across the entire surface so that it wears down at the same rate. A nice alternate use for this is soldering though I haven't tested that yet. It does look exactly like my natural rosin flux block, not including the case. ... show more

This is a really great product, just what I needed for my violin. The rosin that came with my violin was bad, it breaks easily and I have to touch it, but this one is a non-contact rosin, with very little mess. The only mess is when your scratching the surface of the rosin to make it rough, but don't expect it to be mess-free. ... show more
