  • Worth while upgrade
Replaced the factory garbage forks on my marlin 5. It wasn’t terribly difficult but be warned it does require some mechanical ability. I reused the bearings from the factory fork. You also have to trim the down tube and install the nut inside the down tube. I use this bike for commuting to work and these forks make a world of difference. The only reason I give it 4 stars is because of the compression/ rebound adjustments. It has the ability to be adjusted but to change it from anything other than full open is too much. Idk if I got a bad set or there is supposed to be a break in period but that’s my impression. Still worth the upgrade but maybe a different model would be better. ... show more

  • Great upgrade from coil spring fork.
Installed this fork on my mountain bike as an upgrade from the original coil spring based fork. This fork provides a much-improved feel compared to the original fork. Very smooth and supple. I have some experience working on bikes. It went in place pretty easily. The most difficult part was cutting the steerer tube, but I was careful and it went fine. I bought a fork that was listed on Amazon as "used-very good." The description said it "would not be in original packaging but it is new and has never been installed." The fork arrived in Rockshox original retail packaging with all plastic and cardboard packaging and labeling including serial number. The box had a crinkled, mashed, and dented corner was the only issue. It hardly earned it the "used" designation. I was slightly anxious about the used designation, but it was a perfectly new product. A great $43 gamble in savings under the forks designated "new." ... show more

  • Great upgrade over the Suntour XCT
Upgrading to an air fork over a coil is a big step up. I know there are better forks but this is pretty good at this price point and a big upgrade over my suntour xct. Relatively easy install. Just know what you are replacing before you purchase.

  • Great so far! Make sure you have the right tools or you'll hate life.
Just got this today and installed on my 2021 Giant Talon 2 29er. Took several pounds off the bike, and wow does it ride smoothly right over curbs. Comes pre-pressurized with about 100 psi of air which, according to the fork's guidance, is good for someone 160-180lbs. I'm 175 so it worked great for me. If you want to install this yourself, you're going to need a bunch of tools: - Hammer - Weighted rubber mallet - Bike multi-tool - Star nut installation tool - Flat head screwdriver - Several razor blades - Thick work gloves - Pipe cutter - Bike stand or something else you can mount your bike to for working on it. The part that takes the longest is removing the crown race. The stock one was compressed to my stock fork tightly. I didn't have a specialized Park Tool crown race removal tool (because I'm not running a bike shop...), so I had to use the razor blades to wedge and hammer one in between the crown race and the fork's top, then hammer in another, then another, etc to slowly lift the crown race. Be careful not to cut yourself or destroy your old fork! Also, highly recommend you pick up a star nut install tool (~$25) to save yourself screwing up your new fork, and a pipe cutter (also ~$25) that comes with a deburring tool to cut the fork pipe smoothly and avoid getting metal shavings from a file mixed into the grease of your shiny new fork. There's a broad selection of both here on Amazon. I've only taken the bike around the block and over a few curbs so far in test riding, looking forward to getting out on a ride this weekend! ... show more

... show more

  • Crazy good upgrade
This is my first air shock and frankly i can’t believe what an awesome upgrade it is. I knew it would be good, but jeez - Its lighter than my suntour fork and is, like, really functional as a shock. Like a new bike. The amount of customization you can do with the rebound and compression and air pressure is amazing. ... show more
