  • My best espresso machine to date
I love this machine more than all my previous machines. The main qualities compared to another semi-professional I owned (like the Musica that this replaced) are the consistent performance, the noise level, and the ease of operation. The hot water spout produces truly hot water, and the steaming wand does an amazing job. The brewing head is easy to clean, and unlike my musica, doesn’t collect as many grinds while using it. The ability to use both a tank and a direct line is great. The pump is relatively quiet. The only downsides to this machine are: Limited spacing between brewing head and tray. If you use the standard portafilter and the bottomless ones, you can barely fit a 12oz paper cup, and if you want to use a scale, even a bottomless portafilter will not leave enough clearance, so you have to use a shot glass first. The other problem is that if you can’t connect the direct drain hose for the tray, the tray capacity is quite limited. You can’t do a regular backwash service without overflowing the tray. They also made the steaming wand use a double hose design, so the wand doesn’t heat up, brilliant. Finally, I find the design of the machine to be beautiful, but there are a few flaws in it: 1. The hot water spout is outside the tray area 2. Pre-infusion is hard to do. You have to hold the lever in an exact spot and there is no obvious indication it happens 3. I learned to love Musica’s lever-based steam valve, and the rotating valve is not as easy to use when you need to stop the steam quickly without making a mess. 4. The external display module is kind of stuck there, and it is too sensitive many times it will take action just from a light touch of the steam’s cleaning cloth or the steam itself. But still, with all these comments, this is the best machine I have ever owned!!! ... show more

  • Good machine but not great customer service.
I like this machine and it makes great coffee. Some other reviewers talk about pre-infusion and in Cinquintotto does not have that feature like others do. When I first received it and started using it I created many messes trying to pre infuse the espresso puck and it ended in disaster every time. You have to flip on the water pump and pressure as fast as possible and not barely turn it on to pre infuse like on other machines. But it does pull a great shot. I make triple shots every time with a bottomless portafilter. The steam wand is pretty easy to use. It will need food grade lubricant on a certain part of it eventually. It moves and rubs metal on metal and comes from the factory with food grade lubricant on it which eventually wears off. The height and width of this machine is substantial. If you are in an apartment and need a smaller base and model then the Apartamento may be more to your liking. The durability of this machine is very robust. I have yet the need to replace any parts in the 8 months I have used it but I researched that you can buy extra parts for whatever you need to replace. It isn’t all proprietary like other expensive coffee machines.. *cough* Breville *cough* and that was a major selling point for me. I know people that have bought 4 or 5 Oracles in a 10 year time period. Right around 2 years the machines start to die and can only be fixed by the company for a $500 repair charge. I did not want to go down that route. This was a $4k machine and an investment for the next 10-15 years (I hope). And you also have to buy a good coffee grinder (or should buy one). I went with a Eureka Specialita and works amazing paired with this espresso machine. First I tried the Eureka ‘grind by weight model’ that measure and weighs the exact amount in the portafilter but it stopped working in the first week. The Specialita model that grinds by time is way better and definitely more reliable. Cons: Now the poor Customer Service that I mentioned in the title.. I noticed that there was little black specs in the water when I used the steam wand into an empty white cup, ran the main part of the machine without a portafilter in it straight into a white coffee cup, and ran the other side of the machine that is a hot water spigot into a white coffee cup. ALL OF THEM put out black deposits of some kind of material that looked similar to black fine coffee grounds but floated and moved in the water and then settled in the bottom. I thought this was something in the machine that needed to be cleaned out or ran through so I put 15 gallons of water through it. By the way you have to use bottled water for this machine. Absolutely zero tap water with all of the extra minerals or hard water should ever be ran through a rocket espresso machine. Absolutely no distilled water should be ran through it otherwise it can cause damage to the machine (per the instructions). I knew this was the case from other people’s reviews and it is easy to buy Ozarka 1 or 2 gallon bottled water from the grocery store. Especially to keep the machine in pristine condition. So I ran 15 gallons through it over the course of several hours thinking it would clear out what ever was in its but alas! Nope! To this day it still have little black deposits that come out of the head of the machine, the steam wand, and the hot water dispenser. So I emailed Rocket Customer service to help me or replace it and they responded “most likely when they finished the espresso machine at the Rocket manufacturing facility they ran tap water through it to check and make sure the machine works. Then it was drained and shipped overseas and the left over minerals in the 2 boilers calcified and solidified. Leaving a thin layer on the inside of the boilers. So every time the machine is turned on and the boilers heat up it causes the deposits to burn and detach. That is most likely what you are seeing in the water. It will eventually go away.” Well Rocket Customer Service, it has been 8 months later and multiple uses a day and it is still the same as it was in the beginning. Also, why did the factory use tap water to test the machine when the instructions clearly say to use filtered water so it doesn’t damage anything? Seems like the $1 worth of bottled water would have been a pretty sound investment for a machine that costs thousands of dollars. But the customer service rep just said I should return it if I didn’t want that in the water. But by this time I was past my 30 days of Amazon return policy. All in all after this massive review I would recommend this machine. When you want to spend the money to invest in a good long lasting espresso machine then this is a good one. The Cinquintotto has a PID add on that is not really necessary to make good espresso or steam milk. A lesser version without it would be just as good. I don’t use the PID to change water temperature settings in the different boilers hardly at all. I hope this helps. These machines are not a 1 in all system but they are way better than the current most popular machines. And will last longer. The machine heats up in about 5-10 minutes and heats the portafilter to as hot as it should be in 15 minutes. I can steam milk and while steaming grind my beans and prep the espresso puck. Once the milk finishes, pour that into the coffee cup with the vanilla in it. Make espresso shot and pour into the coffee cup. Clean the frothing pitcher and espresso mini pitcher. Knock out the coffee grounds in the portafilter and wipe clean. Followed by a hot water rinse. Clean the frothing wand with a hot water paper towel or cloth. All in all takes about 5 minutes to make the normal caramel macchiato or vanilla latte. Machine can also be setup to turn on at a certain time in the morning if that is desired. Thanks again for reading! I know it was a long review but I read a lot of these before I bought mine. It is a lot of money to invest and spend. It also looks great with the stainless steel appearance and on its own little coffee table in the kitchen. Definitely everyone who comes over and sees it always reacts with a very big ‘Wow look at that high tech espresso machine!’ reaction. I would buy again the dual boiler is amazing. But would totally be able to get by with a lesser version rocket like the Mozzafiato or Giotto (needs to have a shot timer which is super helpful). Also If I did not have to worry about cost and had all the money for whatever machine possible then I would get the Bicocca, R Nine One, or Epica rocket machines with touch screens and all of the bells and whistles. ... show more

  • Spectacular Espresso system
The fit, finish and quality of this machine is second to none. Heating is smooth, fairly rapid, and the availability of steam and hot water is seemingly endless - and I have not yet installed the water line to it. Steam capacity and capability is outstanding - I think I could froth road tar with this, so far, no issues frothing, Almond, Oat, Coconut or Skim milks. Seattle Coffee delivered very well and protected packaging, not only the original Rocket box, but within another fully protected also. This is not an inexpensive machine, but the saying 'you get what you pay for' is aptly fitting. It is not an automated machine like many lower end systems. If you are not experienced in dosing/tamping/brewing - there WILL be a learning curve - but this system is both beautiful to look at and pulls a shot like nothing else. This is 5-stars across the board, it only loses 1 star on 'ease of use' because perfection demands practice, and as this is a manual machine the only thing holding back 'ease of use' is the user themselves - just takes a bit of practice - honestly the controls, and actual use of the machine is quite easy and straight forward. Mastering those controls is what takes a bit of practice - still getting quality shots while learning though ... show more
