I wouldn't recommend this skate for any competitive aspirations but for casual skating I believe this will do the job well. Admittedly, I got this skate for the look ( I wanted something cute but not tacky) so I was initially concerned about the functionality of the skate. But so far it looks like a decent skate! At the very least, it's much better than a rental skate! The aesthetics of the skate meets expectations to what is online. Some reviewers said that the skate runs small, but this was not my experience. I normally wear a Woman's size 8 and ordered a size 7. Based on my roller skating experience some boots require to order a size down because the boot must fit snug for good performance. I received a Wide 7 instead of a regular 7 and again, I was concerned about size but the boot fit perfectly! Your toes should not be crushed into each other but you should feel the boot 'wrap' around your toes and sides of your feet. The laces are also a bit short, but I planned to buy a new pair of derby laces anyway since the included brown laces........well, blah. For me the boot is very stiff above the ankle, which I expect to cut into my leg on a long skating session, so don't be surprised if these skates need some break-in time. I assume with most skate boots it will take 10 hours of break in time to feel like a glove. Initial fit and aesthetic is great but I have not tested on the ice and performance yet. I will add more info after the test. Again, I only recommend these skates for casual skating around the rink, not for competitive or even skating lessons. ... show more

    • These smell horrible!

I had such high hopes for these ice skates, but the smell is unbearable. I had a headache within minutes of opening the box and my hands smelled just from handling them. It’s a very strong chemical type odor and sadly there’s just no way I can keep these. I have no idea if it’s from manufacturing or what but after feeling sick shortly after handling them they’re going back. ... show more
