Description

-The RMS Carpathia was a Cunard Line transatlantic passenger steamship built by Swan Hunter & Wigham Richardson in their shipyard in Newcastle upon Tyne, England. The Carpathia made her maiden voyage in 1903 from Liverpool to Boston, and continued on this route before being transferred to Mediterranean service in 1904. In April 1912, she became famous for rescuing survivors of the rival White Star Line's RMS Titanic after the latter struck an iceberg and sank with a loss of between 1,490 and 1,635 lives in the North Atlantic Ocean. The Carpathia navigated the ice fields to arrive two hours after the Titanic had sunk, and the crew rescued 705 survivors from the ship's lifeboats. The Carpathia was sunk on 17 July 1918 after being torpedoed thrice by the German submarine U-55 off the southern Irish coast with a loss of five crew members. At THEROLLER3D, we see the value in our shared history and will always strive to find new and creative ways to bring that history back to life in our products. There is a difference between models and toys. These are high quality artisan models not toys. They will hold up to light play but should not be hit or banged around as there are little pieces that can break off. We try our best to make these models strong but because they are 3d printed models, they will always be weak in some of the areas with smaller pieces. They will float in water but not straight. Please do not buy this model if all you are looking for is a toy boat to float in the tub. Thank you - Andy

  • Smaller than expected but appreciate the ingenuity of this small business
This is the 1st review I have ever written for a product. Of course I did not look at the measurements of this model when I ordered it so was a little shocked when I saw the actual size vs. the price I paid. However, I am in awe of the details on the replica of the Carpathia and the creative genius of the producer. My 10-yr. old grandson is a ship aficionado and will love this. One has to respect that this was printed on a 3-D printer and ship products are a rare find. I already have the next model picked out for his next gift. Kudos to the producer. ... show more
