  • Very Disappointing - NOT ANY MORE!
Style: Solar Pathlight
UPDATE: Aug 2023 I’ve changed my rating from 1 to 5. Why? Because, after my review a Ring representative reached out to me and offered to work with me to resolve the problem to my satisfaction. I want to say, Aaron was totally engaged, committed and willing to do whatever it would take. He admitted they found there were issues with the Solar Pathlights regarding the batteries and offered to send me one Pathlight and Steplight to test. Because of his support, I was willing to put in several weeks testing these products with different scenarios, and even deliberately trying to make them fail. In the end I found they worked better that what I had prior and also learned how to better configure and use them. I reported back and my effort was clearly appreciated. As a result, I was sent all new Pathlights and Steplights. I am so impressed with Ring’s willingness to back their products. This is not seen often, especially when a company reaches out to you. Great job Ring! Thank you! I am a believer again because of your incredible support! ————————————————- I love my Ring Alarm, Doorbell Pro, and Floodlight Cam, but have to say; the Solar Pathlights, Solar Steplights, and Mailbox Sensor are more misery than worth. It’s a constant battle keeping them online, charged (and they are in bright sun all day long) and batteries. I don’t think they have these products perfected. I have 8 Pathlights that most don’t work, 4 Steplights that most don’t work and a Mailbox Sensor that never works. Too bad, because I would have gotten more. BTW, they worked well for about 3 months then steadily got worse. ... show more

  • ***UPDATED***Didn't last 2 years
Style: Solar Pathlight
****UPDATE**** After writing my review below, A representative from Ring reached out. We did some troubleshooting and discovered it was the batteries. They tried to send me some batteries for free. Unfortunately, they were back ordered. Instead they replaced all the lights. This resolved my issue. This was customer service at their finest. I figured I was out of luck due to being out of warranty. But, they made it right. I now recommend this product. Original Post: I bought 8 of these in November 2020. They worked great until July 2022. The solar panels are no longer charging the battery on half of them. Which is a bummer. They are out of warranty. They currently cost $34+ to replace a piece. Other than that, they worked great and provided enough light for our stairs going to the house. ... show more

  • Ring integration & Solar makes for great value & ease of use
Style: Solar Pathlight
Better half was not at all enthusiastic about this however now she is a big fan. Likes: 1. Solar. In our set up, works fabulous. No batteries nor low voltage complexity. Enables flexibility of placement. 2. Schedule: dusk to 11pm schedule which ramps up to full on motion. Similar for 6:am to sunrise. Minimizes light pollution, maximizes safety on our path. 3. Smarts: We have it so only start and end motions units trip the group. In our placement of 4 following a winding path, we’re pretty sure the middle units motions are…. Deer. How did we discover this? See below. 4. Ring integration. In our set up, looking at device history, when only the middle motion sensors trip we worked out it was deer traversing the path. Visitors walking the path tripped the first and last sensors. 5. Expandability. Sure enough we ordered two solar stair lights and a solar wall light. And now an additional 2 solar path lights, and two light bulbs. 6. Flexibility. Endless possibilities. 7. Range: have lights 80 feet apart with 3 stories of elevation difference. BONUS: replaceable batteries. Replace when the batteries eventually fail. Dislikes 1. Scanning the QR code on an iPhone. Needs to be snappier! 2. How about a map? We have a Door Bell Plus, the radar view is nice. Howabout awareness (manual or automated) of all Ring devices? 3. The Bridge. Yes, another device to plug in. Since we were in try it out mode, we really didn’t want another Echo / Show device. An upgrade promo for Ring Light buyer perhaps? 4. Unnecessary Charging cables. So far every light has come with one. Make it optional. 5. Future Proof: will this ve replaced by Matter / Thread? Summary Completely recommend if you have right solar aspects. ... show more
