  • GREAT product, but know your Wi-Fi and internet’s limitations
We have a large 3-level house, so I bought 5 of these to get complete coverage. We also have a ring doorbell. I’ll break down my review into parts because I have a lot to say. nstallation The base comes with a built-in tab that you can hang the unit from while you’re on the ladder and wiring it up. This works well if you’re mounting it vertically. However I had 2 locations where I had to mount it upside down (replacing older light fixtures), and in that case the ribbon holding the unit wasn’t long enough, so I had to rig up an extension with an old lanyard. The ribbon needs to be just 2” longer. Activation in the App Ring did a great job here. Every one of my units was connected to Wi-Fi within a few minutes, and after downloading the latest code they were off and running. I used my iPhone 13 for setup, and it’s very intuitive if you’re somewhat technically inclined. Connectivity I checked the device health and noticed that 3 units were in the red, so I added a UniFi Wi-Fi access point to that side of the house, which mostly solved the problem. Ideally you want the RSSI to be better than -70, but I have one unit that still shows -74 and it works fine. Live View takes 3-4 seconds to come up on all my units. My 2 access points are UniFi UAP-AC-HD and UniFi UAC-AC-PRO. Day-to-Day Use The Ring software comes with a rich set of options. We had to activate Smart Alerts to avoid getting alerts for cats and raccoons, but that feature works well. The lights still come on immediately, but it seems to takes a few more seconds to get an alert for a Person. This is a fair trade-off. Ring’s app is easy to use, and my non-nerd wife figured it out pretty quickly. I signed up for Protect Plus, currently $10 a month. It stores 60 days of video with no usage limits. I feel like this is a good price. Summary I haven’t used older Ring units, so I can’t compare to them, but I’m very happy with the quality of Ring’s latest software and hardware. This weekend I’ll be adding an indoor alarm system. Highly recommended! ... show more

  • Nice improvement over old Ring Floodlight
Color: White Size: 1 Camera Configuration: Floodlight Cam Wired Pro Only
I get that there are bashers of Ring products, but I have been an adopter since early on and have been beyond satisfied with all of their products, and this one is no exception! This replaced our Ring Floodlight camera that was bought in mid 2017. The camera faces directly east and is subjected to direct sunlight from dawn to late mid day in the unrelenting California Central Valley sun and the lense was finally getting blurry after almost 7 years of continuous use. I think it also had some help from bug spray..... While the old Floodlight cam was good, the improvements regarding resolution, clarity and the floodlights themselves, along with the louder speaker and siren, make this unit worth the cost! I'm not a huge fan of the "Birds Eye view", but the motion detection and the motion warning are both great. Honestly, I couldn't be any happier with this unit or any other Ring product I have used; from the Ring alarm, Video Doorbell Pro or the three battery/solar Spotlights they have more than met my needs for security and reliability!! ... show more

  • Started off happy, ended up being disappointed ( new ipdate since I last posted)
Color: White Size: 1 Camera Configuration: Floodlight Cam Wired Pro Only
When I first recieved my foodlight, I didn't want to make a mistake on the install. So I had an electrician install it for me. Once installed, I connected it to my wifi and the ring chime pro. For the first few weeks, things were going well. Then, one day it stopped recording events and I'm no longer able to view the live view feature. I called Ring's tech support, spoke with a very nice and professional young lady who attempted to help me to get things back up and running. After talking for a while, she said she would email me some instructions on getting things back up and running; which she did. The instructions I followed made the situation worst. I reached out to the young lady again via email and she replied and stated she wanted to continue to assist me. A day later I reached out to her again via email and never received a response back from her. I waited about two weeks before I reached out to tech support again. This time I got a different young lady, who like the first one was kind and professional. She did help me get my floodlight back online, but still no recording or live view was an available. Then for some strange reason she hung up and never called back--although she confirmed my telephone number in the event we were to get disconnected. This review can also be written for my ring doorbell which has the same problem as the ring floodlight. They both simultaneously decided to no longer function as intended. So for me the product is a waste of money if even the tech at Ring is unable to help. My money was wasted on this product and I wasted money on an electrician. Update* I received an email from Brett, an employee at Ring, stating he would like to help me resolve my issues with my ring doorbell and floodlight. Today I had an appointment via phone call from Brett. He (Brett) took my wife and me through some trouble shooting steps to get my Ring products up and running properly. The entire process took about an hour, but the end result was everything was functioning normal. My wife was tickled at the large smile on my face. I call apply the old toys are us motto of turning your frown upside down to the time spent. My wife and I are once again happy consumers thanks to Ring and a special thank you to Brett. ... show more

  • Works perfectly!
Gonna be real I had an electrician install mine because the location I wanted it mounted to had no wiring at all so all of that had to be installed prior so I wanted it done right. It was worth the extra cost for piece of mind. Beyond that once it was setup everything else was a breeze. Connecting to the ring app took about 10 minutes because of updates but after that it works flawlessly. Picture quality and audio is excellent. Floodlight coverage is also very good and motion detection is honestly too good I had to go in and tune it because it was detecting people walking on the street which is a bit too much. Very happy with this product. Will update if that changes. ... show more
