  • you get what you pay for...
I received and assembled this unit yesterday. I haven't yet had a chance to see how well it "sucks", but wanted to give a little feedback on some issues I ran into: 1) The "Y" intake was broken upon receipt. Seems to have been broken during packaging since the box was not damaged. 2) All of the bolts that attach to the base attach via threads cut into the base sheet metal rather than having a lock washer/nut on the underneath of the base. I ended up stripping one of the threaded holes and will go get the nuts/washers for all of the bolts to make them more secure. 3) the supports for the collector/bag unit are ridiculously under-engineered. The collector/bag part weebles and wobbles around and certainly doesn't provide any place to solidly grab the unit when moving it around the shop - which is the whole point of having a portable unit. I will be added some bracing to these posts to try to resolve that problem. 4) there were cap nuts (is that the right word) that were provided to attach the casters to the base, but the length of the nut on the casters is just a little too long. I had to go scrounge some extra washers to take up the space. The motor does seem very hefty and well made, and the impeller is steel, which is largely why I bought this unit. I'll follow up once I get it hooked up to some dust-generating machine to report on how well it actually does it's job... ... show more

  • Great Deal for The Price
Although the parts that make up the hole unit are as you would expect to get with a dust collection system of this price range, the motor and the fan are worth the price I payed though. The hole unit is quite nice and work's very well. A few modifications and I will have a well functioning and efficient system. One more thing, I am going to upgrade to a Wynn filter also. ... show more

  • Save your money...
This rikon model is nearly identical to one sold by HF tools for half the price. Take a look and do some research before you spend a load of cash for a "name brand."

  • Great whole shop dust collector
This is really a good dust collector. I mostly buy grizzly products, but my local woodcraft had this on sale for about $300.00 and I couldn't resist. It has great suction even when I am using both 4" ports at the same time. Everything is well made and I would suggest buying the big horn 1 micron bag for this unit. It makes and big difference in my shop versus the 2 micron bag that was provided. That is why I knocked it down one star. ... show more
