The original Rico game is one I purchased on sale on the switch and knew nothing about. It was about $10 a few years back and to my surprise I had a complete blast with the game! It wasn’t perfect by any stretch of the imagination but it was an Indy Roguelite Fps game done with love and a limited budget, So when I saw a sequel was coming out I had to get it! Oh boy.. I’ll start with the positives: This is leagues above the original with the targeting and shooting elements, And the cel shaded graphics don’t look bad at all! Unfortunately that’s where the compliments end. All 2 of em. The first RICO as I wrote above had innovation, Even in its crudeness and low budget, It had a campaign and as you were doing your campaign it would randomize missions such as rescue the hostage, Get files, Clear the floor, Breach the doors, Etc…This game tosses every one of those Elements out the window in favor of a completely streamlined experience. You have hostages maybe twice during the “campaign”. I say campaign in quotation marks because the story is as generic and throwaway as they come, You start off by breaching the doorway in front of you (There is barely any room that has more than one door available to breach, So 2 players playing co op and breaching from 2 different sides has as well been tossed out minus VERY few occasions) you get the slow-mo time to shoot, You get them all and you can now pick up their weapons. You have throwing knives as well which 1 shots the enemy, You go to the next room and clear it after breaching the doorway. I hope you REALLY ENJOY breaching endless rooms because this is literally ALL you do for the incredible 1 hour and 48 minutes it took me to beat the story mode. Yes, a whole almost 2 hours. The levels feel stretched, So stretched in fact I was wondering if the game glitched and I’m just going into the exact same rooms I was in previously over, and over and over again (This is all true, I was about to restart the game until I realized a different color door in front of me and the level finally ended) After those extremely repetitive, boring and just plain bad 2 hours I was like well let’s see what I unlocked…You get nothing, the ONLY OTHER MODE is a daily mission, Which mind you is set in the same exact locations as the story mode. No variety or thought was put into this title at all. It’s so basic, so boring and repetitive I’m still in disbelief. It’s incredibly buggy as well, There’s barely a game here and somehow before you reach the next room the frame rate drops so incredibly low that the music skips and you stutter while walking, and there is no one but you in that room. The music is repetitive, 3 house tracks that loop every 50 seconds or so, I hope you love the beats or the mute button shall be used, It drove my wife crazy. Terrible story mode, Repetitive mission structure, No variety, Re skinned versions of the same weapons you use throughout the entire game, No rogueLike elemtents at all, No other places to go aside from the same building, No branching pathways like the original, It’s baffling that this is what they chose to put out. This could’ve been great as a DLC to the first game to just add more content, But this is NOT worth $40, $30 or even sadly $20. This is a $10-15 super budget title that will be in bargain bins for the forseable future. Save your time and money, And skip this one, This one game is going to put this franchise on a complete halt unless someone comes in and gives the fans of the original game what they want. This isn’t even worth a rental, It’s a 1.5/10. SKIP AND AVOID. ... show more

Good game though it can get old/repetitive with gameplay.
