  • Works great, but shipping was terrible
Size: Pack of 1
Ordered on a Friday. I was sent a message that I would receive on Sunday. However, I received another message on Sunday saying the order was delayed and to expect delivery within one to two days. That made me a little perturbed because I pay for Prime and expect my orders within two days, I had also been without hot water for the entire weekend. Amazon needs to fix the shipping issue quickly. As far as the part goes. I had to drain water heater below level of this part which took a little while. Once I got that drained, the old one screwed out and screwed this one in no problem, had this installed within 30 minutes and had hot water within a few hours. If you are not comfortable doing this yourself, I would call somebody. I am not a licensed plumber, but fortunately for me, my Dad was and I picked up some things along the way. ... show more

  • Good Quality

Anytime you work with gas please be careful. Control box was perfect match and very easy to install. Took about 30 minutes to put on, even with going outside and turning the water off. I watched a couple of YouTube videos and used two crescent wrenches and a slot screwdriver. Working 3 days later no problem. I recommend replacing the lower burner, pilot and thermopile. I found it all on Amazon. Feels like I have a brand new water heater for $325 instead of $800. Very pleased! ... show more

  • Check This out before buying a new Gas Control Valve
Size: Pack of 1
I also had the dreaded issue with the 4 blinking light code (High Temperature Shutdown). As others have noted, there appeared to be no way to reset the unit, so I ordered this replacement. While waiting for the replacement to show up, I did a search on YouTube and found there is a way to reset the unit. I followed the instructions from YouTube and the water heater fired back up and has been working since. I kept the new one because I feel sure the old one must be on it's way out and I want to have the replacement ready. Quick recap on how to reset. 1) Move the control to "off" and allow to sit for 10 minutes (allowing any gas to clear out before restarting). 2) Move the control to "Pilot" and while pressing in the control switch press the ignitor until the light start blinking (this is normal process for lighting the water heater). 3) Once the light is blinking, move the control to its hottest position, and wait 10 seconds (count from 1 to 10). 4) Now move the control back to "Hot" and count to 10. 5) Move the control back to "Pilot" and wait 10 seconds. 6) Move the control back to "Hot" and the water heater should light. As previously stated, check out the video on YouTube that demonstrates someone actually performing the procedure. I would strongly suggest you purchase a replace control valve so next time it fails you have a replacement unit and will not have to wait with no Hot Water. ... show more

  • It worked, but this is my 3rd control valve on a 6 year old higher end water heater.
Size: Pack of 1
As far as a replacement that got my hot water heater functional again, it did what it was supposed to do. However, I don't expect this unit to be any different from the prior units I have already replaced. If they are going to combine the gas flow valve and temperature sensor and over heating sensor all into one unit that are not made to be replaced individually, then the least they could do would be to use quality components. This is my third control unit since I bought the hot water heater 5 years ago. Both units that failed, failed because of a faulty temperature sensor. I kept having to turn my temperature control up higher and higher just maintain semi-hot in the tank. It finally gets to the point that even with the temperature turned up to the highest point, the unit will not heat. I thought it might have been hard water deposits on the temperature sensor, but after taking it out and cleaning it thoroughly, it still would not turn on. At least the last time it started going, I knew what was coming and already ordered and received a replacement controller before it failed on me completely. Looking back, I should have either gone with a cheaper unit or splurged and put in an on demand system. My parents recently had to replace their hot water heater as well, due to it finally rusting out on the bottom, but it was almost 30 years old... alas, another example of how they don't make things like they used to. ... show more

  • Works great
Size: Pack of 1
The gas control valve looks like an exact replacement except that the original’s plastic part which disintegrated and leaked has been replaced with metal. While replacing I was able to use a soft vinyl 1/2 inch tubing and my shop vac to remove most of the sediment from the bottom of the tank as well. This part and an hour of labor saved me $1400 compared to the cost of replacement of the tank as a plumber recommended. Third time I have repaired a water tank in our homes but first time for gas hot water heater. ... show more
