  • Good Quality
Anytime you work with gas please be careful. Control box was perfect match and very easy to install. Took about 30 minutes to put on, even with going outside and turning the water off. I watched a couple of YouTube videos and used two crescent wrenches and a slot screwdriver. Working 3 days later no problem. I recommend replacing the lower burner, pilot and thermopile. I found it all on Amazon. Feels like I have a brand new water heater for $325 instead of $800. Very pleased! ... show more

  • Best replacement
My water heater is about 13 years old but it still looks brand new. It started acting up on me and would not stay on. Pilot light was on and I reset the control valve by turning it off and then back on again. It would fire up but the light on the valve kept blinking 5 times saying it was the temperature sensor failure. I looked up videos on YouTube on diagnosing the issue and finding out how to swap out the control valve hoping that was the problem. I ordered this valve and it arrived in about 2 days. I removed the old valve and replaced it with this one and it fired up right away. It has been working perfect ever since. ... show more

  • Poorly Engineered Control Head With Design Flaws Honeywell Knows All About
This is a poorly engineered control head with known design flaws that Honeywell just won't fix. Search the internet for the many, many pages and videos of people trying to get these things to work after they default into the notorious "four flash" error code. Unfortunately, water heater manufacturers continue to use this Honeywell garbage in their designs which then traps consumers which the deeply flawed control head. The problem is that their temperature probes heat too quickly, read an over heat error and then writes the error to the little circuit board inside which will never work again. You are then forced to buy the control head (attached to a gas valve that you don't need to jack up the price). If you find yourself in this appliance scam and have to replace the head, never turn the temperature higher than halfway between low and high. Don't pay any attention to the various higher temperature settings. Their control head will error and be useless if you use them. It has now cost me over $350.00 dollars to figure out this garbage. I'm on control head number three now.... Honeywell isn't in any hurry fix this because they sell more control heads and valves. Complete garbage. How has Honeywell managed to avoid a class action lawsuit for it's poor business practices? ... show more

  • Easy to install, works perfectly
A little hard to remove old unit from the water heater. As I found on internet. Make a handle by screwing on a piece of 6inch long pipe. New one installed in less than ten minutes. New valve works perfectly.

  • Works great, but shipping was terrible
Ordered on a Friday. I was sent a message that I would receive on Sunday. However, I received another message on Sunday saying the order was delayed and to expect delivery within one to two days. That made me a little perturbed because I pay for Prime and expect my orders within two days, I had also been without hot water for the entire weekend. Amazon needs to fix the shipping issue quickly. As far as the part goes. I had to drain water heater below level of this part which took a little while. Once I got that drained, the old one screwed out and screwed this one in no problem, had this installed within 30 minutes and had hot water within a few hours. If you are not comfortable doing this yourself, I would call somebody. I am not a licensed plumber, but fortunately for me, my Dad was and I picked up some things along the way. ... show more

  • Money saved!
Water heater quit and was not old enough to replace. Tested the gas valve and it was not working properly, replaced with this new one that matched up perfectly and up and running again. Lot cheaper than replacing the entire thing.

  • Check This out before buying a new Gas Control Valve
I also had the dreaded issue with the 4 blinking light code (High Temperature Shutdown). As others have noted, there appeared to be no way to reset the unit, so I ordered this replacement. While waiting for the replacement to show up, I did a search on YouTube and found there is a way to reset the unit. I followed the instructions from YouTube and the water heater fired back up and has been working since. I kept the new one because I feel sure the old one must be on it's way out and I want to have the replacement ready. Quick recap on how to reset. 1) Move the control to "off" and allow to sit for 10 minutes (allowing any gas to clear out before restarting). 2) Move the control to "Pilot" and while pressing in the control switch press the ignitor until the light start blinking (this is normal process for lighting the water heater). 3) Once the light is blinking, move the control to its hottest position, and wait 10 seconds (count from 1 to 10). 4) Now move the control back to "Hot" and count to 10. 5) Move the control back to "Pilot" and wait 10 seconds. 6) Move the control back to "Hot" and the water heater should light. As previously stated, check out the video on YouTube that demonstrates someone actually performing the procedure. I would strongly suggest you purchase a replace control valve so next time it fails you have a replacement unit and will not have to wait with no Hot Water. ... show more

  • Very "EASY" to install
I arrived in the stated arrival date. It was very easy to install. A simple video on YouTube gave instructions clearly. Replacing this particular part required very little that even a 5th grader can change it. As a landlord who has had to replace entire Water Heaters in the past and the incurred cost having to purchase a brand new Water Heater at $700 due to damage or wear intear for the same main part. This item was only $134 saving me over $600 dollars. I strongly recommend to any landlord to search everything on Amazon for your home and appliance parts. ... show more
