  • Excellent port of an excellent game
First off, I’ve read the negative reviews saying the graphics, or some area of gameplay is outdated. This game was originally released on PS3/360 in 2010. If your only experience with the Red Dead Redemption games are from RDR2, then of course it’s going to look outdated. With that out of the way, the original version of Red Dead Redemption has been perfectly ported to the aging Switch console, and it does not disappoint. In some regards, I’d say it looks better than the original PS3/360 version, and that in itself is an accomplishment. I have played the Switch version for going on 10 hours now, and all I have experienced is smooth performance with no frame rate drops, and no game breaking glitches. It’s a solid experience on this tiny console. The Switch port, however, may not be for everyone. You have to ask yourself if $50 is worth it for an exact port of a game that was released 13 years ago, even if it does include the Undead Nightmare DLC. For me, it was worth it just to play a classic game once again. I don’t own a PS3 or 360, and buying one of those consoles and tracking down an original copy would likely set me back more than the price of this game. Perhaps you’re in the same situation….. If so, then I highly recommend this, if you were a fan of the original, or have never experienced this masterpiece. As stated above, the gameplay and graphics will feel a little dated, especially compared to RDR2. But, as someone who sank many hours into RDR after its original release, I am in no way bothered by this. As Someone who never played the original, this would probably be a CON to the game. I will list it as such, because there are really no other cons to this port of the game, aside from the price. In closing, whether you have played this game before, or this is your first time, I highly recommend the Switch port of RDR. It plays fantastic in handheld mode, and looks amazing while docked, even on non 4k televisions. It runs at a near constant 30 fps, with barely noticeable dips when there is a lot of onscreen action, but this was also the case in the original release. If you have a Switch, and can look past the price, you’ll soon be enjoying an excellent port of an excellent game. ... show more

  • Excellent translation to the Nintendo switch.
This game is awesome. It looks and plays beautifully on Nintendo switch. Hopefully the sequel will be available on the Nintendo switch 2, or whatever the official name is. If you like action and adventure, westerns, and this is the one to get. It is open world and tons of hours of gameplay, plus zombies!! ... show more

  • Great Switch Port
The Switch port of this classic is everything you could really hope for. It runs smooth docked and in handheld mode, it looks crisp, and it controls really well. The sound mixing in the game is great whether you’re playing handheld or docked as well. Also of note is that the entire game is on the cartridge. There is a 233mb day one update, but it is not necessary to download to play the game. If you don’t already own this game, or if you do but you are looking to play it handheld on the go, this is a really great game and a really great port. You can definitely purchase the Switch version with confidence that it runs well on the console. ... show more

  • Love this game!!
I love playing RDR and undead nightmare!! Used to play this all the time on PS3 and I must say that the graphics on the Switch are so much better! I got the game Sold By: Strawberri Entertainment and have no issues with the product. Love this game and so happy Nintendo is porting older games onto the Switch with updated graphics. My only real complaint is that the Switch version does not come with the online play. That’s what I played the most on the PS3 version, so you can only play through the storyline. But still worth it with the updated graphics! ... show more

  • Not as good on Switch
Obviously this is an excellent game and it was worth playing through again. I just found the Switch version to be very buggy. My character would get stuck looking at wanted posters, the map would stop functioning at times, and every so often the menu would stop working until I reset. The other thing is that the game is almost unplayable on handheld mode. It's extremely difficult to see the crosshairs to fire, I eventually just moved to the TV. I know that it was likely hard to port this title over, but the bugs made it frustrating to play. The game is amazing if you've never played it, but it just was much better on Xbox 360. ... show more

  • Great open world game on the Switch
I already own this on the X-box, but when I saw the Switch port, I thought I would give it a try and I was very happy I did. Yes, there are some "glitches" with animation and views under water or inside terrain, but... The port on the Switch is awesome. It literally has all the offerings (side quests, jobs, minigames) that the original has. For a hand-held portable device, this is one of the best offerings out there. I have been playing it on travel for more than 20 hours and I am only about a third of the way through it. If you are looking for an open world adventure that has an excellent story line with plenty of adventure and exploration to keep you occupied, this is the game for you. ... show more
