These days if you take the time to write out a recipe by hand, you want to protect the investment of your time, and if you use your recipes on your counter, they're going to get splattered and spilled on. There is about an 1/8 of an inch around top and side but if it was much smaller, they would not be easy to slip your recipe card into the sleeve.

I am using to protect my grandmother’s recipe cards and they fit her 4x6 cards nicely. They are thin but as expected. I haven’t found any flawed sleeves. Good buy.
