  • Stable and chunky
Exactly as described. Heavily built will support about anything. I wish the main screw was a bit longer, but not a huge deal.

  • Solid, useful (a few nit-picky issues)
This is a nice, solid, useful camera L bracket. Solid enough to hold my substantial Nikon DSLR with an equally substantial full power flash mounted in the hot shoe slot. I love the versatility/capacity. I shot with the DSLR but also do a lot of video with my iPhone. Hooking magic arms to the bracket makes this an all-in-one tool. That said, this bracket has a few flaws. The little swing-up arm on the mounting screw is flat. I have other mounting plates where this piece is notched with a fingernail slot which makes it so much easier to grab it. Also, the tolerances on the Arca Swiss mounting angles are a little too generous. This plate fit fine in my cheaper tripod screw-to-lock head but is tricky and fussy in my more expensive quick-release tripod head. I have to be super careful to make sure it's secure and the locking mechanism can't be fully engaged because the plate edges are a hair too thick. It basically renders my quick release anything but quick release. It's a great plate for the price but if you have nicer equipment with really tight tolerances, this generic brand might not play well. ... show more

  • Works as it should!
This is a pretty sturdy mount that I have on a separate tripod with a separate camera to film specifically for vertical videos. For it being a separate camera unit, I think that this works really well. However, I do see some other designs out there, and I would let you do both horizontal and vertical, and that might be a better choice for some. For me, you do get what you bought, and so this was exactly as I’d expect it to work. ... show more

  • Solid as a rock - one piece metal - easy to install
Full disclosure - I received this product as a member of the Amazon VINES review program. The comments and opinions are based on my knowledge of similar products and experience using the product listed. This "L" bracket is solidly built and is a one piece design. The metal is aluminum and is anodized a deep black. It has a 1/4"x20 attachment screw fitted into a slot across the length of the long side. There is no 3/8"x16 mounting holes on the long side of the bracket but there (1) 3/8"x16 and (5) 1/4"x20 mounting holes on the short side. There is (1) 1/4"x20 mounting hole on the long side of the bracket close to the inside end. On the short side, there is 2 openings which allow cables to the fed through to the camera if required. The log side also has rubber stripping along the inside to provide non-slip to the camera once mounted. Each side has a ARCA SWISS style mounting to allow attachment to a QR base on your tripod. There are anti-slip safety screws in place at each end of the Arca Swiss mounts to prevent the "L" bracket from sliding off the QR base mount when adjusting position. With the long side of the bracket attached to the tripod mount, the image format will be "landscape" or horizontal (see photo 2) and with the short side attached to the tripod, the format will be "portrait" or vertical (see photo 1). The photos show my Canon EOS T7i mounted on the bracket. ... show more

  • Good to know before you buy!
The seller's are always asking for a review, so here goes. GOOD THAT I REFERENCED THE LISTING FOR THIS ITEM PRIOR TO COMPLETEING THIS REVIEW. IN THEIR DEFENSE, THE SELLER HAS ADDED NOTES ABOUT SOME OF THESE ISSUES AFTER I POINTED IT OUT TO THEM. First I am using a Canon 77D camera. Purchased the bracket because my tripod has no tilt to the head. L bracket and problem solved...........or so I thought. First let me say that the bracket is well made, appears to be CNC machined IMO and seems to be of quality materials. When I received the bracket, after inspecting it thoroughly, I started to attach the bracket to the camera. Immediately I could see some issues. If you have a Canon product with the articulating screen, (not familar wiith the other brands, but be aware) you will quickly see that the screen can no longer open all the way and you loose the ability to twist the screen to position it. When I discovered this, I sent a note to the seller to see if I was missing something. Their reply was that the bracket was not specifically for the Canon 77D, but they do mention Canon 80D and T6i that both have the articulating screen. THEY HAVE SINCE NOTED THE ISSUE WITH THE SCREEN IN THEIR LISTING. I liked the way the bracket grips the bottom of the camera. Didn't feel there was any chance of slipping. If you look at the photos, notice where the screw for the bracket attaches to the bottom of the camera. With the bracket on the left (from operators perspective) then the screw ends up in a good location (about the center of the machined opening) and seems well balanced. When you switch it to the opposite side, the screw ends up favoring the left side of the machined opening and throws the balance off slightly. Just a point of caution here. Also be aware that the screw in the bracket is short and only goes into the tripod mounting hole about a thread and a half. Good to be checking this from time to time to make sure it does not come loose causing the camera to fall off. Your option is to mount the bracket on the right side of the camera. This creates three issues to work around. 1st is that you cannot change the battery without removing the bracket. Ditto with the memory card. And lastly it places the shutter release on the bottom closer to the tripod and in a slightly awkward position. The last thing I want to mention, and only to clarify the listing, this will only quick mount and release on an Arca Swiss clamp. Otherwise you will have to screw the QR from a tripod to the bracket each time you want to reposition the bracket from horizontal to vertical. SELLER DOES NOTE THIS BUT WAS NOT CLEAR. If you are a user of a non Canon product or one of the cameras that do not have the articulating screen, this is a great option (remember the Arca Swiss clamp) for your photographing needs. Hope this is helpful. ... show more

  • Locked down portrait mode.
Great stabilizer for my M50 MKII. I had a hard time finding a way to keep my DSLR in portrait mode without any wonky angles and now I'm not gonna have to worry about that anymore for my videos.

  • Fits but...
I thought I could use if for my G7X. Technically I can, but I wouldn't have access to the battery or memory card which is kind of pointless. I plan on getting a different camera soon so I guess it could work for that. Seems sturdy. Check the description to make sure you have the right specs before buying and it should work for you.... ... show more
