Long time "nerd", so I've got a lot of legacy equipment. The cable works on some equipment and not on others.... while others yet look like trash, and I know WHY. My old cable was a TRUE VGA cable, so pin 1 had a wire going to pin 1 at the other end, and this followed for 12 pins, Pins 6-8 being tied to the metal body (shields for pins 1-3. Other cables use the above but also tie in pin 10 (VGA ground). This cable ties in 5-8 and pin 11 with chassis ground. THIS is the problem for some equipment. It seems that many VGA cable creators are "going off script" now-a-days and coming out with their own wiring guides, so "VGA cable" doesn't mean a whole lot anymore. Some have pins 6-8 tied, some have 4, 6-10 and 11 while others 5-8. So, until vendors list the pin outs in the description for you to check at home, be ready to buy a few types and send back the ones that don't work. ... show more

    • Colors display correctly on monitor.

I was using another VGA cable bought from Amazon, which looked very sturdy and durable. But the colors on the monitor display changed from time to time. I wrongly attributed the weird colors to the blue tint of my computer glasses. But I finally figured out that my glasses weren't causing the color problem. This Rankie cable doesn't look sturdy, but it makes the monitor display perfect. I will update this review if the cable misbehaves within a year. I am going to downgrade the other cable to 1 star after I test it on other monitors, if I get the same result. ... show more

Connecting Pins on one side were crooked could not connect to PC. I Notified with no answers. It should not matter how much an item is to do customer service or have the goods checked before shipping. Clearly the pins were crooked. Manufacturing damage. I needed a vga cable to check a laptop screen problem - couldn't find my old one so order this one from Amazon - the cable works - what more can I say - it's not meant to be pretty - it appears to be well constructed and is as it is represented in Amazon's description. Again, it works which in this case earns it five stars from me-----I of course found my old cable after receiving this new one but that's how the universe works ... show more

Bought two. The first one, the screen is yellow. The second one, works fine as long you dont move it. Untimately, I paid double price for one cable that halfway works. Don't they test these things? Inexcusable. Told my neighbor about it, he had an extra one laying around. It's old, dirty, missing 3 of the 4 screws, has a kink in it from being unknowingly squashed under the edge of his desk for years, and it works beautifully. ... show more

Not much to say about an old-school VGA cable other than "it works" and the quality is fine. But, just in case this helps someone: I'm using this on an old Dell Optiplex 9020 tower (c. 2014?). In attempts to not have more cables laying around, I had initially purchased a VGA to DVI converter -- and got no video. (VGA out of motherboard, converted to DVI, DVI cable to monitor's DVI input).
