    • With a little work, this seems to be a good knife for the price.
I was hesitant to order this after reading the 1 star reviews about the knife arriving dull but I enjoy sharpening so wasn't worried. The knife arrived somewhat sharp but with a heavy coat of paint(looks like powder coat) which I knew would clog my sharpening stones and files. I used paint remover and power brush to remove the paint and did a lot of filing/honing and ended up with a great heavy sharp draw knife for a pretty cheap price. Wouldn't recommend this knife for someone who would be disappointed with less than razor-sharp item right out of the box and doesn't have patience to rework the edge. Bought it as a gift for my brother who works with rough logs and am sure he'll get some great use out of it. ... show more

Product seems solid at unboxing but would recommend some lock washers or perhaps some locking nuts since it will be under pressure pretty often and you may not always have the right tools to tighten it up while out clearing land. Although I do believe it’s the same size as your standard chainsaw wrench. Besides that the edge seems as if it may have been sharpened before painting the back side somehow (kinda joking but the paint is definitely part of the burr so it wasn’t ever honed. I used a 1000/3000 wet stone with just a few passes to see how it would take and edge for the pic and it’s definitely very easy to put an edge on but doesn’t seem like it will hold it very well so you should probably carry a puck style stone if you plan on doing much work with it. ... show more

My son purchased this item to strip bark off of a branch to make a staff. It appeared to be good quality and performed well. Good price and really durable. Very easy to use.

Heavy duty material...thick black paint on back of blade makes it impossible to sharpen unless removed first and didnt get sharpened before delivered...spent 3 hours shapening it myself before i could even use it. Now that i sharpened it though it holds up to serious work load

I'm a novice woodworker so I've not had much experience with draw knives but it's a delight to use. When it came, the edge was covered in a protective coating that had to be removed and it needed to be sharpened so I would advise to make sure that you have a good set of whetstones before getting this. Other than that, it holds an edge well, cuts clean and like I said, is pretty mesmerizing to use. ... show more
