  • has some drawbacks but still good for little constructors...
My son is three years old and he likes playing with lego duplos and mega bloks a lot. I came across these toys while surfing in the internet, and it looked a pretty innovative design so based on the good reviews I purchased it. They are, for sure, not substitute for legos but make a good addition to the collection. They are made from good quality plastic and have no sharp edges. Besides, I think they are big enough not to get swallowed. Parts attach pretty well. (not too stiff- kids can easily attach and detach; and not too loose so it does not fell off) and the colors are vibrant. With all articulations and different connector pieces, you can generate endless 3D images and my son, so far, went past my expectations. I believe they help with his development apart from being just fun. Although I like it, I have a couple of complaints too... Firstly, I think it is overpriced. 40 pieces for $24 makes a piece more than half a dollar. For the same price you can buy a 160 piece mega bloks with its storage bag (and pieces are way bigger too) Mega Bloks First Builders Deluxe Building Bag 160-Piece . Secondly, I think it should be sold more than 40 piece a bag. 40 is not enough to generate large tubal networks and that limits the fun. Finally, although it is compatible with another quercetti product Quercetti Saxoflute it is pretty limited to what it is. I think they need to make more toys in this product line to make it comparable to other construction toys... may be different style connectors or other accessories, that would make a more colorful playing experience. ... show more

  • Great Fun for Toddlers and Parents
This was purchased for my granddaughter who is a year and a half old so obviously she plays with it only under supervision since there are small parts. Parents of younger toddlers than the recommended 3 years old should know that as long as they are supervised, it is fine for them and a great way to build eye-hand motor skills and creativity. My grandson will be getting this set soon to augment his Saxaflute as well. (This is another fine toy from the same maker that also is fine for younger toddlers.) My granddaughter found regular blocks not at all interesting and the one developmental step they could not assess for her was stacking blocks. Otherwise she was far ahead on all motor skills. When she got the Tubation set she was immediately interested in putting them together and was delighted when her parents showed her they could be used with her Saxaflute set. At her age she needs a bit of help making the connections but is learning quickly. Her cousin who is a year older manages these connections easily and a five year old friend of his loves it just as much as a toddler. This is a nice gift even for the child who "has everything." I would advise also getting the "super" version of the Saxaflute to go with it. Amazon seems to have the best price for this toy as well. And if you are lucky, you may get a chance to play with it yourself while the little ones are asleep. ... show more

  • Perfect for our toddler's development
I purchased this for our grandson who is 22 months old but delayed due to extreme prematurity. I try to research and purchase toys that fill a purpose for him and will hold his attention while working on a skill. In this case, I thought it would be good for his eye hand coordination and problem solving. I am very pleased with it and actually it exceeded my expectations. It is very well made and comes in a well made box with a handle for easy storage. Our grandson gets very excited when he sees me bring this box off the shelf to play with and it holds his attention for a long time, which in his case is an accomplishment. I especially like that it is not a battery operated toy and will be something that he will grow with. I intend to purchase him another one to have at his home and am bookmarking it to remember when seeking a well priced presents for my toddler nieces and nephews whose parents look for STEM orientated toys for their children. ... show more

  • My kids (ages 2 and 5) LOVE this building toy
My kids (ages 2 and 5) LOVE this building toy. I wouldn't be surprised if we end up adding a second set at some point! They do not always love building toys, so I was excited to finally find something that got them excited about creating. These are pretty manageable for my 2.5 year old to use, and easy for my 5 year old. The pieces can twist and turn once they are put together, which can be really intriguing. We did add the saxoflute set, so they are having fun experimenting with instruments. We've also added marbles to these to experiment with. The product is high quality, and the pieces are not too small to have with a toddler in the house. The box is nice and sturdy for storage. I would highly recommend these. ... show more

  • 2 1/2 year old enjoys it and so do I!
This is a very simple building toy that is more versatile than I predicted. I didn't think one could do much with tubes compared to blocks, legos, and the like but I was wrong. The many positive reviews and reasonable price convinced me to give it a try. It's really simple and fun, even for a 2 1/2 year old. I think it is a toy that can grow with her and I predict she'll enjoy even more and she gets older and is able to build more sophisticated structures. The only thing is that while 40 peices sounds substantial, they run out in a hurry and I have to take apart my structures so she can continue to build hers (yes, I play with it too....and so will you). It would make a unique and inexpensive gift. Even in the unlikely event that the recipient already has this toy, s/he can always use more pieces. In short, it's fun, educational, and not too pricey. Update: This STILL gets played with by my 8 year old. No pieces have broken in 8 years but my girls (8 and 10) are very careful with their toys. ... show more
