  • Fit 2006 Yukon 6.0L
Despite Amazon telling me it would not fit my truck, I checked another website and it appeared to be a match. It's been a few weeks and it's working great. The starter I received was manufactured by "Pure Energy". Additionally, the power rating appears to be 1.7 kw, not the 1.4 kw Amazon lists.

  • Good starter, read this for the installation on Tahoe 4X4
I decided to change the motor after going through the 3 phases of a dying starter motor, the slow (wau-wau noise), then the tic-tac solenoid noise, and finally the banging with a wrench for it to start. I changed the starter motor on a 4X4 2002 Chevy Tahoe Z71, and believe me it is not an easy task. On the 4X4 the front axle reduces the clearance to a minimum. Seriously the clearance is almost none, the shop manual calls for the removal of one of the bolts that hold the axel to the frame / chassis; and that was the only thing that I was not willing to do, I didn’t want to get involved in realigning holes to reinstall a bolt that holds the front axle. So persistence and playing with space as little as 1/8 of an inch and prying it with a large screw driver allow it me to pull it down. The older original factory starter motor has two outside bolts, which made it even more difficult to pull down the motor. The new motor does not have the outside bolts, but pushing up the motor to slide it in location was not an easy task, it was an issue of a tiny bit here and there ( with the corresponding tic-tac noises) pushing it really hard to get into position. If you are going to replace a starter motor in a similar Tahoe 4X4, I highly recommend you to lift the front of the car, and get a cradle wheeled car to do this job ( make sure your kids are not around, because you are going to course like never before). I have replaced the fuel pump in this SUV (which means removing the fuel tank), I have replaced the A/C compressor, and I can tell you that both jobs were a breeze compared to removing and installing the starter motor. I am sure that for those that own the RWD version of the same vehicle, removing and reinstalling the starter motor has not been a problem. Once installed, I started the engine. Fortunately the starter work and there were not issues. But for this specific installation on a 4X4, I highly recommend you to test the starter motor outside before proceeding with the installation. I got lucky, and I know the starters are tested at factory before shipping; but what about if after all of that work the new one would it prove defective? Not only that, to return it, the motor got all scratched during the installation. The starter came with what suppose to be a longer bolt, in my case both older bolts were the same length as the new one that came with the starter. The new starter has the same dimensions as the older one, except it does not have the 2 outside bolts and brackets. Remember to always remove first the small signal cable from the solenoid, and it’s the last to be attached after the thick battery cable, if the starter slides from your hands while installing it, you don’t want the small cable to be the one to hold the weight of the starter. Since I did not have any issues with the new starter, and after 30 days it still working with no problems, I give it a 5 stars rating. • Disappointed
Well at first I was excited after reading a lot of reviews thinking I was getting a deal but after I installed starter it sounds different and not working correctly. When I start the suburban up it like struggles to start. Pretty disappointed. Wish the seller would contact me for a replacement

  • Better than your local parts store
Value and easy to install sounds better than the 2 previous starters and didn’t need a shim

  • For Starters...
It an off screw and only one. That's where my single negative ends. The product came timely, looked good, seemed to be built good. It was not easy putting in as my old lesser quality one came out fully when a piece fell apart just from unbolting it and removing it, right from the old starter. Install was tough, had to use a bolt cutter to finish job and it made it all the much harder. I don't blame the new starter for the problem as it came pretty much simpler woth old bolt removed. However the wires can get in the way and frayed easily so be careful for the close by harness on 2005 escalade. Bolted all up minis the heat shield and tried out. Fyi: before this truck would not start, lights had full power, one headlight and fuses were replaced, starter was tested but it wasnt a good test and alternator came back good. Changed and checked all batteries and that didn't fix. I noticed before I had installed this starter that the old one didn't fire up quickly and took longer then my other lade for sure before it went out. Back to the story: Went to fire it up after install and conclusion correct, started right up! It did have a delay like my old one, but definitely easier to start and fires up everytime so far for the last few months, hasn't left me stranded and works everytime. After many miles and many trips still going strong as it should, hopefully for the life of the vehicles for many years if quality. Thank you and hope this helps someone. ... show more

  • Sounds like a powerful starter
Installed, my car had 2 long bolts so not sure what that's all about. Sounds amazing compared to the junk summit racing mini starter that let me down at the track last weekend did.
