  • Quad Case is great and can fit everything I need
Style: Quad Horn Case
The media could not be loaded. I play in a big band and wanted to get all my stuff into a single case. I selected the Quad Protec case because it seemed like the best option to comfortably fit a flugelhorn, a Bb trumpet and all my mutes into a single case. I debated between the tripple and the quad case, but ultimately the quad was what I picked. I'm glad I went with the quad, because I don't know that I would have been able to fit my mutes in the tripple case along with my trumpet and flugelhorn. I was a little surprised with how large the case actually is. It's like a carry-on luggage case in the length and height, but it is wider than a carry-on by 3-4 inches. It's like a hybrid between a carry-on and small suitcase if you think of it in terms of luggage. I don't plan on taking this case on flights, so the size doesn't really impact me at all. The case comes with ample separators, foam supports, mouthpiece pouches, etc. to configure in whatever way works best for your needs. I was able to fit my trumpet, my standard wrap flugelhorn, all my big band mutes inside the case. The pouch on the front of the case is HUGE! I was able to easily fit my full size folder with all my big band charts, along with other music books into the folder. On top of that I had enough room left over to put in my iPad and page turner and still have room left over. This case really does fit it all in. While the case itself is fairly light for it's size, once you load it up, especially if you have a music folder with a few hundred charts in it, it can get a little on the heavy side. To me, that's not the cases fault, it's a factor of what's loaded into it. I do wish the backpack straps were included. That would have been a nice thing to add in at this price point. I will likely buy them. The single shoulder strap seems to be nice & high quality, but I could see this being more comfortable to use as a backpack, although it will be fairly large still. I've only just received this case, but initial impressions are very positive, and it's a big upgrade from the 20+ year old soft side double case I was using before. It's also a huge bonus that I was able to replace two cases and a music bag with this one case. Now getting in and out of rehearsal and gigs will be much easier, and it should be faster to setup and put away my gear. Based on my initial impressions, I would recommend this case. ... show more

  • Just like the non-wheeled version, but a little better designed.
Style: Double Horn Case with Wheels
I should start with the fact that I like the Pro-Tec Double Trumpet Case without wheels. But carrying two trumpets with other stuff attached to the bag (mute bag) is a little much. The case has pretty sturdy construction and a lot of pads that are trumpet length and can easily be moved for your best design of how they should fit. It also includes several (plenty) of little foam blocks to prop up the horns and keep them from butting against the lid when closed. It includes a velcro pocket for 2 mouthpieces. The front has a pouch for music that will fit the slim music folders that hold 8.5" X 11" pages of music, not the bigger folders. It is orientated so that the top of the pouch aligns with the short edge of the case, instead of the long edge. This is a big improvement over the non-wheeled version, and allows for much more storage. It also includes the famous Pro-Tec organizer for pens, pencils, business cards, etc.. The wheels and pull handle are awesome, probably a little less than the Gard versions, but plenty sturdy and strong. I have had NO issues wheeling it over parking lots and hallways. It includes a shoulder strap, however, I won't be putting this thing on my shoulder any time soon. The zippers and velcro fasteners work just like the other Pro-Tec cases and the cord handles are good. It also features rings for you to fasten other items like a mute bag. It is not a huge bag, the non-wheeled version is flyable without checking it, but the wheels may make it too big for overhead storage on a plane. I would NOT check this bag when flying. Two trumpets fit perfectly and will probably not hold a tall cornet. Cornets with a small wrap may fit, but not if they are taller than a trumpet. It would probably hold a flugelhorn on its side, but not in combination with another instrument. This is not meant to be a hard case, therefore it is not as heavy as a traditional double case (ie: Bach), but that is probably why you are considering it in the first place. The wheels and pull handle make it a little heavy to put on your shoulder. If you are looking for a wheelie bag to carry two trumpets or one trumpet and a bunch of mutes, stand, mute holder, etc.., this is a great bag for it. ... show more

  • Protec cases are great
Style: Double Horn Case
I had a different single trumpet case from Protec for nearly 20 years. The zipper stitching is starting to fail finally... probably an easy fix but I was ready for a new case. I picked this up at a local music store and was really happy with how flexible it is. I'm currently using it as a single trumpet case with plenty of room for accessories, but if I ever have a need to bring 2 trumpets I'm ready for that too. The side pocket is VERY generously sized even if you do use it with 2 trumpets. The foam protective pieces and dividers are on velcro and can be moved around for optimum protection for your specific trumpets and accessories. My college-age son also wanted a new case so a couple weeks after getting mine, I ordered him an identcal one here on Amazon. ... show more
