Looks well built, unfortunately it doesn't fit my Midland 18-258 Glass-Mount CB Antenna. I'll save it in case I change out the antenna. I had no problem with the spring falling when I took it apart. As a matter of fact I had to tap it on a hard surface to get it to move at all. Removing it would have required pushing it from the other end with a tool. I added this CB quick disconnect to the antenna on my Jeep. It has held up phenomenally well and has allowed me to use parking decks again (an unappreciated convenience at the mall) as well as the car washes. It's as easy as pushing down and twisting and takes less than a second to fully detach the antenna. A lot sturdier and solid than I though from some of the reviews. I’m not worried about this getting bounced off. You just have to make sure that when you disconnect you don’t drop the spring as it just sits inside the cylinder with no stop. I would definitely buy again.

Chrome plating was bubbled and cracked in some areas and the spring promptly falls out when the disconnect is used. This is some really bad QC.

    • Caution, the spring WILL fall out everytime you remove the antenna. Non-captive spring.
As others have mentioned, this does NOT have a captive spring in it which means every time you remove your antenna the spring just falls out onto the roof of your car or whatever mounting surface you have. I recommend the company fix this design so the spring does not fall out and get lost. To prevent the loss of this spring, I inserted a small rubber "O" ring in the spring at the half way point between the coils so the rubber o-ring prevents the spring from falling out, but does not interfere with the removal and replacement of the antenna. ... show more
