This is the perfect mug for a scientist, nerd, geek, teacher, parent, or gifted student... Actually... Pretty much everyone. When coffee or any other dark colored drink is added, the graduations become even more visible. Whether you are enjoying a cup of espresso in the am or some liquor on the rocks in the pm, you're going to be satisfied. 250ml capacity. There are other beaker mugs. We tried them all. Some of them may even be. Gasp, less expensive. But this is the one you want. It is lab quality (seriously) and will last. Note: Wash thoroughly before use.

  • Great Mug
Love this nerdy mug! The glass feels very solid and the graduations on the mug are printed very clear. Love to wake up in the morning and show my love for science while drinking my coffee.

  • Beaker Mug...
Received when seller agreed to send and packaged nicely against breakage. Cup is made very good, a bit square for a handle but quality is there. A bit spend-y for the mug though. I like the size for work not to big not to small...

  • Good quality, but a bit small.
This mug truly has the look and feel of laboratory glassware. I really like it, in that respect. Note that it's not a very good insulator, which has implications on both the temperature stability of the mug's contents and the potential for heat transfer to/from skin that may come into contact with the outside. Since I use it only for hot liquids and prefer to drink them at more lukewarm temperatures, I consider its heat conductivity a feature. My only real complaint is that it's just a bit too small. The capacity is barely sufficient for me to fill it from the single-serve coffee maker in my office and carry it back to my desk without spills. And while the pour spout is a nice feature, I end up using it far more often as a "spill spout". :-[ Finally, there's the handle. As with the body of the mug, it's on the small side. It's a squeeze for me to fit 3 fairly large fingers in there, and then they're too close to the glass if the mug contains very hot liquid. I've found a way to hold it with two fingers - my index finger hooked through the handle with my middle finger also curled but on the outside of the handle. This gives me stability and control, while minimizing the chance of accidentally touching the mug's body. I find this makes it relatively easy to avoid spills on the way back to my desk, so long as I keep an eye on it. Prior to this, I had a much larger beaker mug of a different brand. It had the opposite problem of being too large. Its markings went to 350 mL, but probably held about 450 mL when filled to the brim. Its size presented a few logistical problems (coffee maker incompatibility among them). Even so, I continued to use it until I inadvertently discovered that, strong as it may be, borosilicate is no match for concrete (for v ~= 2.5 m/s). Rather than replace it with same, I opted to find a more practical size. I think I can now conclude that my ideal size would be about half way in between the two. ... show more

  • A Highly Practical Metric-only Cup/Beaker for Drinking or Measuring
This cup-beaker holds exactly 250 milliliters (one quarter of a liter). The cup is marked in five parts, i.e., in 50 ml increments (50, 100, 150, 200), which are practical for any use. The markings are in a large, white contrasting font, so it is very easy to read. There are no confusing obsolescent ounce markings, which require mental calculations dividing by 2, 4, 8, etc. The beaker can also be used to measure solid foods in convenient milliliters. The pouring lip is handy for pouring water into coffeemakers, which often have narrow intake areas. The total capacity of the cup, 250 ml, is perfect for a cup of coffee. A glass of wine is defined for nutrition or DMV purposes at 150 ml. Thus, you can pour an exact "glass," which is a little more than half of the capacity of this cup. If you are not drinking wine in a formal setting, you can use this handy cup-beaker, at your computer desk, for example, without risking an unstable wine glass falling into your keyboard or, worse, your CPU! ... show more

  • My new frothing pitcher
I'm using this to heat up milk in the microwave for cappuccinos. I thought for sure the metal frother would scratch the heck out of it but it still looks brand new after two months of almost daily use. This is a tiny mug so it's a bit expensive in my opinion and I would deduct a star for that but because it's held up so well, I'm going to keep it at 5 stars. Sometimes you do get what you pay for :-) ... show more

  • It works great as a little shot mug for espresso machines
It's absolutely more fragile and weaker than advertised. It works great as a little shot mug for espresso machines, etc but when I place a metal utensil in this to stir the coffee it feels as though I'm one sleigh bell away from shattering this and the hot liquid all over. It's perfect as a white-elephant or peer/colleague gift if you're in a related field - would look great as a pen holder in an office, or such, but feel unusually fragile to be a daily go-to for hot beverage. ... show more
