  • Great Album!
Classic!

  • HEY ORGY, DEADSY, NUMAN, MANSON, NIN FANS!
I got this album on the strength of a track on the Blair Witch 2 soundtrack (The Reckoning not featured here) and was well stoked I did. For once we find an industrial-goth band with a singer who can actually sing! The album starts off with GIMP which has good lyrics (another rarity in industrial music!) and an almost Moby-ish, Portishead vibe to it although in a much more aggressive manner. They do a cover of the Beatles ELEANOR RIGBY which although faithful to the original is much better than your average 'lets-do-a-cover-and-have-a-hit-single' a la Orgy, Disturbed etc. LAURA'S THEME reeks of Depeche Mode in full orchestral swing and for some reason I get the feeling there's a Twin Peaks connection! Sadly it's an instrumental which I'm sure could have benefited from vocals (Trent did it with SOMETHING I CAN NEVER HAVE!) and it's not as though the vocalist isn't up to the task. But then again it does work suberbly as an interlude before the full-on (and I do mean full-on) techno-metal of LIES. Imagine KMFDM/MINISTRY with better vocals and your halfway there. Anyway I'm raving now - just buy the [...] thing! ... show more

  • Beautiful Step Forward
Miller pushed down the rage on this release in favor of more industrial, dark soundscapes (check out "F***ed Up" and "Laura's Theme") and the results were spectacular. However, there's still plenty of noisy guitars for fans of the band's first release (how about "Lies"?). Check it out if you're more into the industrial side of industrial metal. ... show more

  • Godhead fans NEED this album
"Power Tool Stigmata" is an essential for any fan of Godhead's latest albums "Evolver" "2000 Years Of Human Error" or the latest "The Shadow Line". This album is Godhead's next effort after their "Nothingness" album; and they show much improvement here. "Nothingness" showed more rage yet simpler drums and instumentation, but this album shows how complex and talented Godhead can be (even when using little to no lyrics at all on some tracks). Godhead shows much advancement in their feild with this album; packed with intensity, anguish, sadness, rage, moodiness, and more! The instrumental tracks show how creative OTHER members can be besides their frontman (Jason Miller) who handles most of the songwriting. The other tracks like "Memorial" and "Penetrate" are some of Godhead's strongest material, however, and are worth the purchase alone! ... show more

  • Worth the time and effort to find them
Mostly we are all here because we looked up TOOL and the Godhead album came up. I browsed by dismissing it a couple of time, but then once I really got into industrial such as Stabbing Westward, Gravity Kills, KMFDM (not skinny puppy or ministry) I looked at the reviews for this cd. After clicking on the samples a 1000 times and realizing that this is better than that Godsmack cd I burned a week ago, I decided to buy it. Yet I first d/l a couple of tracks from Napster and was a bit confused. In the end, HMV was my battleground. Looking savagely through the G's I found 1 copy of the cd, a rewrapped, dusty cd, with the cover ripped and scratched. But why not I thought, and bought it. And I could not be more satisfied with it. Imagine industrial at its peek, with synth background oozing from the speakers and crunchy riffs here and there. This band is NOT like anything you know, but you ll love them. The sound manipulation in very different from 80s fast hard bad industrial but rather its not even NIN or stereotypical GOTH. And yet it is just so damn cool. They use everything in a splendid combination, acoustic/ bass/ electric/ synth/ computers. And the wonderful thing is all the songs have very profound meaning, not like TOOL where everything is twisted and you need to pause and think but rather saying "I am sad because...". The songs strike me as true and authentic and full of emotion. The only gripe I have here is the vocals, the lead singer has a very low voice(creed/ metallica) but that is mostly un-noticeable because of the distortion and other cool hooks and effex. When the lead carries a note for a long time, you can kinda feel too much 'manhood' there, but otherwise a great offstream industrial band with amazing potential and very cool results so far. You 'industrilize guys' (sorry for that). Hope this helps. ... show more

  • A Definate Must Have CD For Godhead Fans
I have to admit, I almost didn't buy this CD. I was almost dissuaded by some pretty bad reviews. I'm so glad that I got it anyway, it's one of a kind. Does it ever annoy you when you really like a band and all of their music on every CD sounds the same? Godhead is one of the rare bands that has managed to have a unique and wonderful sound on each album. The songs have a beautiful mixture of programming and guitar, and Jason's voice completes it. The instrumental songs are amazing, the Method shows what he truly can do on Laura's Theme. 2000 Years of Human Error was good, but this is raw Godhead. Godhead without the help of Marilyn Manson, Twiggy, and Reeves Gabriel. All of the bass and programming by the Method, instead of having a guest artist, same thing with the guitar and Mike. If you buy this CD, you will definately get your money's worth out of it. ... show more

I love this album as much as anyone else but to be honest i slightly prefer 2000 years of human error. Stop slaging off Manson, Linden from san antonio, he didn't ruin godhead and if thats what you think, don't blame him because they will have asked him to join them! A brill cd and if you are thinking about getting it then you will like it. ... show more

  • I prefer this to their latest
They're a Great band, very much like a darker Depeche Mode. They have mentioned they like that band. The track listings are all over-the-top 'hey, we're 'goth!' and the actual songs have little to do with the titles, but it was done as art, and not to confuse anyone. This record is great, especially when you are just thinking in your room. I love their style and I really hope to hear more soon. The new record (2000 Years...) is a little harder than this, sounding a LOT like M.Manson, which I also enjoy, but Godhead should have made that album with their sensibilities. You should definitely pick up this album, it's one of my favourites. ... show more
