This pottery set has provided hours of creative fun for my kids. It comes with no instruction manual, but detailed instructions are in this listing. Honestly though, it’s mostly trial and error... **Just be sure to KNEAD the clay first (while still in the bag), and have a bowl of water nearby because HANDS NEED TO STAY WET** The diameter of the turntable (spinning wheel) is just under 6 inches, and the overall size of the machine is about 8.5 x 11 inches. The turntable has two speeds and a higher speed is quite fast. There are two 14-ounce packages of air-dry clay included (no kiln needed). It also comes with a cutting cord, 2 sculpting tools, 2 paintbrushes, 6 colors of paint, and a vertical piece that can be used with tools for steadier work at different levels. The motor is fairly quiet, but batteries only last us for about 2 projects. While this toy is recommended for ages 8+, pottery is a challenging activity at any age. This is obviously made for children using it with supervision. I’m overall happy with this purchase with one exception. It runs on batteries and we all know what that means but it also can run with an adapter which has to be purchased separately. Wish it had come with it or made locating the correct adapter easier. I purchased this for my 6 year old daughter for Christmas. She absolutely loves the pottery wheel and ease of using. The problem is we had to figure out how to use it because it did NOT come with instructions. It also DOES NOT come with a power cord. I would have purchased a different one if I knew that. I didn't read the product details thoroughly enough. I would NOT recommend this product, not worth the price. You probably can get a similar pottery wheel with instructions and power cord for the same price. ... show more

For my 6-year-old daughter, this pottery kit gave her so much fun! It is a really practical way to make this easy and fun to use. I helped her a little bit, by creating the basic shape over the mold, then spray some water and my child can then use their hands for the final shaping. Sure it isn't the most powerful motor, but with the molding approach, you don't really need it. I know there are reviews out there about the power of this device or how it works. There was no power cord included in box so we used batteries which do NOT work either… There were no instructions included in the box. Paints were completely dried out. We had gotten this for a birthday back in January but wanted to use it outside when the weather got warmer. The box was not opened until then. This item did not come with instructions, we had to do our research before using it, also it had a spot for a cord but there is no cord. Very disappointed we had to go after batteries when we found out it didn't have the plug for it. It also doesn't give helpful instructions for what kind of clay and how to use it and how to dry the clay. All a guess on how and what to do with it, for the price it is way to unclear and doesn't have enough clay. ... show more

I'm shocked, actually, that it works. I knew it was a toy, but once you get the hang of it, it works pretty well. You can actually make pots! I like that it isn't too fast for a child's sensitive skin, but that it is still fast enough to make the art.
