It is amazing. It is very sufficient. It took no time for the set up. It took no time for you to convert the Weather difficult whereas the other products that I purchased that similar to this, it was unnecessarily difficult. This was amazingly easy to operate and understand how to function Impeccable. ... show more

  • Great, but had to buy additional cord not included
Style: AV to HDMI Converter Recorder
This product was pretty easy to use once I got the hang of it (there's a bit of a learning curve, but nothing too complicated). Will easily pay for itself in the long run, compared to the cost of sending off tapes for conversion. I took off a star because the description says it's compatible with camcorders, but my camcorder output is S-video only, so I had to buy a S-video cord--which was not included--in order to finish my project, which left me in a bit of a pinch. ... show more

  • So simple to use!
Style: AV to HDMI Converter Recorder
The Porta digital converter is fantastic. It easily converts any media that you can connect SVideo or RCA to digital to store on your computer, upload to YouTube, send to friends or family on thumb drive, etc. Plus gets your old family video tapes onto digital media to prevent quality loss that comes from age on magnetic tapes. I have transferred hours of VHS, Super 8 and digital 8 tapes since I received this product two weeks ago. Has been super easy! I was looking at another device by another company on Amazon that cost almost $100 more with the mindset that higher cost must come better quality and features, right? But after reviewing and comparing this device with others, this is the best value and has everything the other guys have - and more! 1080P quality, no size limit on storage device (you need to provide the storage device), supports FAT32, exFAT, NTFS format, has auto time shutoff, super easy to use! The only thing I can say would be an improvement would be have a rechargeable battery - the device must be plugged in to operate. But that is certainly not a major issue. I recommended this product without hesitation! ... show more

  • Does everything I'd hoped for
Style: AV to HDMI Converter Recorder
I wanted to digitize my physical media - mainly my DVD collection which I started 25 years ago, and maybe later, some even older VHS tapes. Converting these to .m4a files will let me play them on multiple devices, including my car, and ditch the physical media and DVD player or VCR. I was concerned about the copy protection built into the theatrical DVDs I own, but this device converts them perfectly. So far I've done about half a dozen movies and I'll likely do about 60-80 more over the next few months. These are for my personal use only and I won't be sharing them - I'm a big believer in intellectual property rights. I've recorded to a 32GB USB key drive, a 32GB SD card and a 128GB SD card. FAT, exFAT, and NTFS file systems all work. FAT has a 4GB file size limit which is a problem for long movies (more than about I'm2 hours or longer and you approach that limit). NTFS and exFAT support larger file sizes. One thing it cannot do is determine when a movie ends and stop the recording. The DVD player returns to the DVD menu which gets recorded until you manually stop it, so I've been stopping it manually. However you can set a time limit for the recording, like 2 or 3 hours, and that'll help. I'm looking for a simple video editor now to trim off the end of the recording, and just came across Microsoft Photos Legacy. That has a built in video editor which should do the trick. I am curious what the quality will look like if I convert/record old VHS tapes from a VCR. Probably pretty bad given we're all mostly used to 1080P and 4K definition. One final note: it came with all the cables and power supply cable/charging block needed, which I thought was a nice touch. ... show more

  • Great D/A Converter - Some Tips On Making It Work
This A/D Converter product is a good basic product at a fair competitive price. It has worked quite well for me. If you need to convert a digital optical audio signal to component output, for example, signal out of a LCD/Plasma TV to older audio equipment or other Component audio interface, then this is the device to use. This device was almost half the cost of one I saw at a major consumer/hobby enthusiast electronics chain retailer. Note that some users have problems because they do not remove the very tiny protective clear flexible plastic caps from the ends of their Toslink cable before attempting to connect the cable to their devices. These are necessary in packaging or storing a Toslink cable as they protect the vulnerable highly polished optical end connections. This is not obvious to some as the tiny clear caps are difficult to see if you don't already know they are not part of the cable. They look like they are part of the cable. The caps must be removed on first use of a Toslink cable. That is why people complain that they do not fit and snap in smartly. Save them in a Ziploc (TM) bag if you expect to remove and store the cable again. If you do not remove the protective caps on each end of the Toslink cable, then you will have no audio signal (ever). This "user error" accounts for at least some, if not most of, the negative comments on many Toslink cables and Converter Boxes such as this one. Audio quality with this converter was very good (given the limitations of the Component interface - std. stereo audio). I detected no distortion or problems with the signal and two channel stereo audio (that is all you will get) was very good and discernable distortion free. With component interface that is as good as it gets. You may have to adjust your Audio PCM setting on your TV set to make sure you are getting a compatible signal. If the red LED bothers you, cover it with some masking tape. Adding review update still working great after 7 months. Still 5 stars. See my answer in Q/A about "Bose speakers" on connections - how to hook up, how many boxes you need, and if this will do it for your application. ... show more
