We’ve had a beautiful, rimless, tank with a glass lid before getting this tank. Wouldn’t have even thought of buying this one until we adopted a very energetic kitten that started taking an interest in our Betta fish two months after moving in. The kitten started jumping on top of the fish tank to watch and paw at the water edge. Our concerns were that the gap between the glass lid and the tank walls (room for the HoB filter) would give her the chance to snatch her Betta sister. Also, because it was a rimless tank, any additional weight sitting on top would risk the structural integrity of the tank walls. So, we bought the 7gal Pondon rimmed tank with the detachable lid. The rims provide extra strength where the tank walls connect and the lid completely covers the top so little paws can’t go in (there’s vents in the rear to allow for air flow). The lid is heavy enough to prevent determined a cat from being able to push open the lid. Cons; the filter flow is strong. If you have a Betta, you will need to baffle the output. There are two outputs; one that pours from the top channel that holds the filter media and the other comes from the submersible pump. If you don't plan to buy a different filter, then feel peace that there's room to baffle the top channel output and you can rotate the submersible pump in a direction that doesn't affect your fish's main swimming area. Not as aesthetic, but the safety of our water faerie comes before beauty. Would recommend this tank with some minor modifications depending on your fish's needs! ... show more

This tank is nice except the filter and the sticker on top it’s very sticky and sand is stuck to it. The filter is just a spray bar that passes through a filter pad. The light is nice but wouldn’t buy again.

It isn't quite what I was expecting but that's alright. The dimensions are an appealing scale, the tank looks good right off, even empty. I'm not entirely sure what my plan is for this one as yet, quite likely a breeding tank will be its first function. 80 bucks isn't a bad price for a complete unit by any means; functionality of the mechanicals does seem on the iffy side, just because I know how hard even good, high-end filter pumps can struggle.
