I am a diehard Polly Pocket fan! I still have the vintage ones made by Bluebird. While I’m excited about Polly Pocket being produced and sold again, I have to admit that the vintage ones are way better. These new ones are less detailed. The new ones like this also come with additional things that can get lost. The old Polly compacts had most of the details built-in. The only thing to keep track of were the figures.     • A beautiful playset!
Style: Mermaid Cove
I'm a fan of the tiny Polly Pockets and love mermaids too, so when I saw this collection, this was my first purchase. I absolutely adore it! It comes with a tiny Polly, and upon being opened up, we get a tiny playset with some cardboard cutouts on one side. Removing them gives us a few more tiny surprises, which end up being a mermaid tail, a crown, and a cute little friend (in this case, an octopus). I loved the surprises, and I think it's so cool that we can slip the tail onto Polly to turn her into a mermaid! I also like that we can use it on the other mini dolls that come in the other sets. My sole complaints are that I can't really get her to sit down with the tail on (and as such, human Polly has to sit on the tiny throne), and I also wish that the cutouts were easier to just slide out - the pictures printed on them are so incredibly beautiful, I wish they could double as a background for extra imaginative play! I'm a pretty artistic person so I'm sure I can find a way to "recycle" them as such, but it'd be nice if that didn't require extra work/creativity. Part of me also wishes that there was another character included (maybe another new character who could be a "permanent" mermaid?). The playset itself is also wonderful, featuring a shell throne, seahorse merry-go-round, swinging sunken ship, and more! The details are incredible and I'm impressed with how much work must've gone into this design. I'm so happy to have this set and it's a great addition to my collection of tiny toys - the set also works nicely with My Mini Mixie Q's and Shopkins Lil' Secrets characters, so if you love those lines, this is worth checking out! :) Enjoy your adventures at Mermaid Cove! ... show more

I wish these were more like the vintage Bluebird Polly Pocket sets. These new ones are less detailed and less realistic. Not as much fun, and too many extra pieces to keep track of. The extra pieces don’t even fit in the compact very well. Hard to arrange everything to fit, so that the compact will close all the way. ... show more

Wish the makers of Polly Pocket would make more versions like this, of a female doing fun adventurous things without being saturated in shades of pink. As a mother of a little girl I appreciate when toy companies portray girls as liking more than lipstick and baby forest animals. Really beautiful set! They're bigger than the regular sets, which is good cause it's easier to fit the pieces inside. Love that it looks like a gift box, really makes it an excellent gift for birthday or Christmas. However I think the backgrounds inside with the surprises are a little too beautiful to take out lol! :D But that's okay! I mean, if you're careful you can still keep them, you know! And it also comes with stickers so you can stick your Polly anywhere you want. That's so cool! Totally recommend these awesome sets! They cost a little more than the smaller ones, but in my opinion it's worth it for the size and the surprises it comes with! :) ... show more

OMG they are doing the surprise thing now! (heck, even I love these surprise toys) Polly pocket is better than ever with the "Polly Stick" technology! Does it hurt my 1980s heart to see it look so different? Well yeah, but these lil Polly people can actually stand on those tiny ledges! I loved these when I was a kid and now my 6 year old daughter is also obsessed with these. I was so excited to see that they are still made. It does have small pieces, so not the best for really young kids, but it's a very fun toy especially to take in the car or over to a friend's house. While it is cute and will make any little girl smile, be forewarned that it and the pieces are very small. So small that it is a choking hazard for children, dogs, and vacuum cleaners. The pieces will be lost in shag carpeting and certainly any wrapping that it comes in. Other than the miniscule size, it made a little girl happy for a few minutes.
