Yet the 250GB system manages to improve on this with its 45nm version of the processor, which although running at the same 60+nm speed as previous PS3 versions, uses less energy. This makes the unit's smaller size and quieter fan possible. Along with the traditional AV and composite connections, the 250GB system also boasts an HDMI (High- Definition Multimedia Interface) port, which delivers uncompressed, unconverted digital picture and sound to compatible high-definition TVs and projectors. (The system is capable of 128-bit pixel precision and 1080p resolution for a full HD experience) This console also provides for an extreme sound experience by supporting Dolby Digital 5.1, DTS 5.1, as well as Linear PCM 7.1. Finally, it features cross connectivity with your PC network and PlayStation Portable (PSP) and its pre-installed, 250GB hard disc drive allows you to save games as well as download content from The Internet. Unlike The some other models of The PlayStation 3, The 250GB system does not offer backwards compatibility. The same functionality now in a smaller, more quiet and energy efficient package View larger. Space saving when placed upright... View larger. As well as when horizontal View larger. A textured, no fingerprint finish View larger. Blu-ray, PlayStation Network Downloads and Beyond PlayStation 3 utilizes The Blu-ray disc media format, which gives you The best high-definition viewing experience on your television, by way of The format's ability to hold six times as much data as traditional DVDs. This tremendous capacity, combined with The awesome power of The system's processor and graphics card, promises an endless stream of mind-blowing games, and other multimedia content. This doesn't mean though that The PS3 is limited to Blu- ray discs. It also supports CD-ROM, CD-RW, DVD, DVD-ROM, DVD-R, DVD+R formats. In addition, PlayStation 3 system software includes BD Live support that allows you to play discs that support Blu-ray Disc Profile 2.0 (BD-LIVE), meaning you can also connect to The Internet while playing discs that support this format to obtain additional features. And of course PS3 owners also receive free access to The PlayStation Network (PSN), where through The PlayStation Store and PlayStation Home, they can download games, game demos, movies, and other content, as well as chat with friends, play mini-games, compete in tournaments and explore dedicated game spaces.Sensational Controller The Dualshock 3 wireless controller included with The PlayStation 3 250GB system provides The most intuitive game play experience, with pressure sensors in each action button and The inclusion of The highly sensitive Sixaxis motion sensing technology. Each hit, crash and explosion is more realistic when The user feels The rumble right in The palm of their hand. It can even detect natural movements for real-time and high precision interactive play, acting as a natural extension of The user’s body. Dualshock 3 utilizes Bluetooth technology for wireless game play and The controller’s detachable USB cable to seamlessly and automatically charge The controller when connected to The PlayStation 3. By integrating all of these features into The popular PlayStation controller design, The Dualshock 3 further enhances The advanced gameplay experience only available on The PlayStation 3 system.Synch with Your Other Sony HDMI Devices The PlayStation 3 250GB system features HDMI + Bravia Synch functionality. • Best Deal On This Planet
You can read all the Blu reviews you choose, but the proof is in the watching/playing. Truthfully, I'm not a gamer. I was looking for a good Blu-Ray player that would enhance my music DVD's and movies on our new 50" flat panel TV. The PS3 has one of the best B/R players on the market today, and with the bonus of being a great game box, well...it was the choice for me. When I go, I go "all in" the majority of the time. Once I decided on the PS3, I really wanted the highest level available, the 250GB version, and Amazon had it...in this AMAZING bundle...with game, HDMI cable. One stop shopping is value to me, too. The only thing missing from "the perfect" bundle, is a second game controller (which, btw, is not hard to use for controlling movies, etc., like some folks want you to believe. It's simple and I barely know how to use one.) But, I digress...it would be great to have a pair of controllers right from the git. The price was the the best I could find, with cheap 2-day shipping, a GREAT VALUE from beginning to end on one of the hottest products on this planet today. Oh, yeah, this game, LittleBigPlanet, is really fun, too. So says my game-shredding son. Thank you AMAZON! Arigato, Sony! ... show more

  • An Okay Bundle
First off, let me start my saying that I was in the market for a new next generation console and for me, the console had to be an HD console, since I thought it would go very well with my Sony Bravia HDTV that I've had for over a year now. Now of course, my main concern was hardware reliability. I've heard way too many stories of RROD on the Xbox 360, including online reports saying that it had the highest failure rate out of all the three consoles. The Wii was out because it's not HD. The choice was obviously Sony, given that Sony hasn't failed me in the past (My PS2 and PSOne still work to this day). However, after receiving this bundle, I realize I had paid too much. Despite the good reviews about Little Big Planet (it got 9.0 and 9.5 from Gamespot and IGN respectively), Little Big Planet didn't interest me. Maybe I thought it was too kiddy or whatnot, but these are my own opinions and do not reflect the opinions of everyone else. If you're interested in LBP, you might still want to skip out on this bundle. Keep reading, I'll explain more. The next thing I realized was that I didn't NEED 250 GB. Not ever. Why did I think I needed 250 GB? Well, I have an external hard drive that contains LOADS of HD movies. But when I tried plugging it into the PS3, guess what? The PS3 couldn't read it! I spent 5 minutes looking like a dummy trying to find it on the PS3 user interface. I did some research online and found out that the PS3 only reads FAT32 formatted hard drives, and not NTFS formatted hard drives, which was what I had. For those of you who don't know, FAT32 has a transfer limit of 4GB. That means you can't transfer any file that is more than 4 GB. 99% of my HD movies were more than 4 GB in size. Thus, I wasn't going to format my external just for the PS3. And I'm not going to pay for any movies on the Playstation online store. I already have all my movies on my external, so why would I pay for them again? Point is, the majority of the people out there who are cheap like me won't need 250 GB. The last complaint I have is important. The bundle did NOT include the new CECH-2101B model. It actually included the old CECH-2001B model. The difference between the two is that the old model sports a 65nm RSX graphics chip, whereas the new model sports a 40nm RSX chip. The chip with the lower nm is better because it does the same as the higher nm chip, but it does so using less electricity, and thus produces less heat. So, you will benefit by having a quieter system, cheaper electric bill, and having a lesser chance for your PS3 to YLOD (system failure from overheating). People will say that it doesn't make a big difference, but I say that with a 350 dollar console (the most I've ever paid for a console), I'd rather have peace-of-mind. Now, I probably wouldn't be complaining about this if I had bought my PS3 months ago. But since the new model came out in March 2010, and it is now June, I expected that I would get the new model. If you bought the 120 GB version on Amazon, you will get the new model, as many people have confirmed. Overall, I'd highly recommend getting the 120 GB version and an HDMI cable separately. I would've gotten the Sony HDMI cables anyway, but the total price would still have been less than that of this bundle. Also, with the 120 GB version, I would've gotten the newer model (remember, my main concern was hardware failure). Good things about the PS3: it's great, upscales DVD's to 1080p, has a wireless adapter, can play blu-ray, can play PSOne games (though on an LCD HDTV, it looks ugly), the user interface is very easy to use, and Final Fantasy XIII looks absolutely gorgeous in all of its 1080p glory. ... show more

  • Great console!
I own the PS3 and the 360. I still enjoy my 360 a bit more due to XBOX LIVE but the PS3 is still very good. The games look fantastic and it's the best BluRay player out there. The price is right as well. As for the bundle, the 250GB HD console w/ and HDMI cable and Little Big Planet is very difficult to beat. You will not find a better deal...not even on Ebay. Overall, I am very pleased with my purchase and look forward to playing all the great exclusives that are on the PS3. ... show more

  • Review of Amazon's bundle - not the console
I wanted to write a review to draw attention to the specific Father's Day bundle that Amazon is selling. When this item came into stock on Amazon, I immediately ordered it as I've always had great customer service experiences with them. The next day, I started seeing this same bundle on other competitor's websites for the same price, but with more games! Eb/Gamsetop is selling this with Infamous, and Walmart is selling with your choice of 2 additional games. I called Amazon to point out this fact and received a short and curt reply saying that they don't match competitor offers. This was a big surprise to me since they in fact had matched offers for me in the past. What gives? Again - I'm sure the console is wonderful and I'm looking forward to having it, but I now wish I had purchased it from another retailer. ... show more

  • picture perfect
This was the best Father's day gift idea my 5 year old has ever had! He was so excited to drag it out of the box it was shipped in and wrap it all by himself with construction paper and glue sticks! Father's day morning he could barely hold in his excitement. He played hot and cold with his dad to find the gift. The cheesey Smile on both dad and my son's face as he opened it was THE picture Perfect moment of the day! :-D ... show more

Nothing is free... **Update** I ended up buying the system(not this bundle)and couldn't be happier!!! Hope that was helpful lol ... show more
