  • This is a great gift.
Style: Noah's Ark
I liked the size and quality of the boat as well as the animals inside.

  • Lovely, multi-stage toy
Style: Noah's Ark
I love our Playmobil products. They rarely miss, and this is another great example of a well-thought-out toy. I actually hope to purchase a couple of them for our church's new children's wing. I love this item because it has the opportunity to span ages outside of its target 18 month-3 year range. We live in a rather small house, with four girls sharing a single bedroom, so multiple-stage toys are a huge deal to me (less clutter!) * I actually purchased this ark for my six-month-old daughter. She can't role play with it, obviously, but she can enjoy the bright colors of the set, and safely gnaw on the animals, which are solid and have no small pieces to pop off (maybe the elephant's tusks, but they seem very secure). * In a couple of months, she'll be able to put them into the ark or another container, and develop her motor skills with "fill-and-spill" play. * By the time she is 12-18 months old, she'll be able to carry this around with her. Since it doesn't have a ton of pieces, I think it will make for a great travel toy for our long drives to visit family. * I also have a 2 year-old, and I think that she will enjoy this toy for its intended purpose as a role-playing activity. She loves her big sisters' Playmobil castle, but some of the tiny pieces are just too difficult for her to handle. * I know my 4 year-old would love this as tubby time toy. The ark looks like it will float nicely, and it should be easy to keep clean and dry. I can't see any openings in any of the pieces that would allow water to enter them and cause mold issues. * My 6 year-old probably won't play with this by herself (not after its initial introduction, anyway), but she will enjoy using this toy to bond with her younger sisters. She's very caring, and I think she'll love being able to help the baby load the animals onto the ark. The ark seems very well constructed. I had no problems lifting the top off. I haven't tried using the ramp, as this is a Christmas gift, so I only played around with it long enough to make sure nothing was broken, and to remove all of the plastic packaging inside the box. Honestly, I'm not worried about the ramp staying up, because I don't think my kids will really use it anyway. They're more the type to yank the stairs out of their castle because they're in the way! The only disappointing thing that I found was with the way the animals are constructed. This is my first, personal purchase from the 1-2-3 line, and I expected the animals to be the solid, smooth seamed pieces of my childhood. Instead, they are made of two plastic pieces that are firmly clamped together like a clam shell. It's very sturdy, but does leave an unattractive and noticeable groove right down the middle of the animal. It's a minor thing, but still a bit irksome. ... show more

  • the kids' favorite toy!
Style: Shuttle Bus
My nephew loves this. His mom told me that this is his favorite of all of his birthday presents. He and his siblings all keep wanting to play with this toy (and the other Playmobil 123 set I gave them) all the time instead of any other toy. With the bus set, you get the bus and figures plus little luggage pieces in different shapes, which is nice for toddlers who are learning to identify shapes. Each luggage piece is also a different color. It doesn't jump out at you as an educational shapes-and-colors set, it just has that subtly worked in, which I like because it gives toddlers an opportunity to notice different shapes and colors in a normal toy instead of a direct shapes-and-colors toy. I played with Playmobil as a kid in the 80s and loved it. The toys hold up well over the generations, and my old Playmobil toys are still in perfect condition. I'm glad they now have Playmobil 123 for toddlers. It fills a gap in toddler toy types, providing a different kind of figure set than had been available for kids this age. Additional note: Playmobil is NOT a block set like Lego fans say... A lot of Lego fans like to bash Playmobil. Lego fans seem to believe that Playmobil is a type of block set, like Legos, and that they're in competition. However, Playmobil is not a block set of any kind, it's a play set. Playmobil and Playmobil 123 are both similar to Little People, except that the figures are more people-shaped than the round chunky Little People, and the standard Playmobil have accessories that are more realistic than Little People. (Of course I like Little People, too. I'm not saying that either is better than the other. I'm just saying Playmobil has differently-shaped pieces than Little People. Playmobil and Little People often can be played together, though, since the figures sometimes fit inside of each other's accessories.) Playmobil and Playmobil 123 are NOT made of block-shaped pieces that you snap together however you want. Yes, some of the bigger Playmobil and Playmobil 123 sets do come in pieces that you assemble and that, yes, in some sets can be assembled in a few different ways or can combine with other sets, but they are not block-shaped sets with infinite building possibilities. They are plain ol' assembly-required (sometimes with a few variation options) buildings with very detailed and realistic (not block-shaped) accessories. But most of the smaller sets, like this bus, don't require any assembly. If you want a building-block set, Playmobil isn't it. If you want figures with realistic and detailed accessories and environments, Playmobil and Playmobil 123 are great. ... show more

  • Fun Playmobil Noah's Ark complete with animals which store in bottom of the Ark
Style: Noah's Ark
The media could not be loaded. I purchased this Noah's Ark for my ten month old granddaughter. She loves her Little People, so I thought that Playmobil 1-2-3 would be a good choice for her. She loves it. What I was surprised by was how much my grandson enjoys it, too. He is on the far side of the suggested age range at 3.5 years old. He plays with it as much or more than she does and is currently trying to get her to play with him. We'll see how that goes. She is at the grabby, it's mine stage. What is great about the toy is that there are two of each animal (of course!) and they can each play with one at the same time. The toy is so well made that I am sure that it will last for a long time. It is also great for the kids to be able to act out the Bible story that they learn in Sunday School. In the video that I will include, my grandson is saying, “Wait for me, wait for me” as he sends the animals up the ramp into the Ark. On top of it being such a quality toy, it is also cleverly made. The animals store inside the Ark when not in play and there is a handle at the top which allows the children to pick it up and go without fuss or muss. It also means that they can easily bring it to Nana and Papa's house and play with us, too. ... show more
