Picture is different than the mats I received. There is no "Namotek" on my mats or the box. Seems to be a generic heat mat, they probably all are. Also, no mention of the MET certification anywhere on the mat. Reached out to the seller. Will update review when I hear back. Update :seller never got back to me. This is after my initial message and a second message I sent after they contacted me encouraging me to contact them if I had any issues. Also, one of the mats is noticeably warmer than the other. ... show more

I'm not sure if they're made in Japan, but the writing on the mats is Japanese, which in my experience with electronics indicates a higher quality product. These are much nicer than my other heat mats. The plastic is thicker, the heat more uniform, and they unrolled and flattened out nicely. To flatten out, I put it on top of my metal washing machine, plugged it in, and after it started to heat up, sat two 9x13 cookie sheets on top with something to weigh them down. After about 30 minutes I unplugged the mat and left it there overnight. No wrinkles or curling whatsoever. I've had both of them going under seedlings for a week with no problems; they're on an unheated porch, so they're pretty much on all the time, one is on a thermostat and one is not.     • Too Hot!!!
This seemed like a good deal when I first looked at the listing, so I took a chance and ordered two of these. They seemed okay when I first plugged them in but got really warm after a few hours, far more than my other heat mats. I still gave them the benefit of the doubt and figured I would move them to a cooler room - perhaps they would do better there. Unfortunately, today I went to check on some seedlings and smelled something burnt as soon as I walked in the room. One of the heat mats was so hot that it melted the plastic casing of the mat and some of the plastic of the seedling tray! The other mat was so hot that I immediately unplugged it for fear it would do the same. I am just outside the return window, so I guess I'm out of luck. Hopefully, my review will spare you the same experience. Just spend a little more for the name brand and the quality that comes with it. The scorched stench in your home is not worth the few bucks saved. ... show more

These plant mats work great ! There's step by step instructions on the warming mats and if you follow that you can't fail. On the mats it tells you how long to keep your plants on the heat and when to water your seedlings. Pretty simple ! In the photos you see some empty containers because I didn't use them all, but the ones I did grew like crazy. I'm so glad I bought these warming mats ! They are made well and operated just like their supposed to. I read in other reviews that they don't get very warm, their not supposed to get hot because they'd dry out the roots too fast. The mats heat at just the right temperature and when the seeds sprout well your supposed to remove the mat according to the instructions and that's what I did. I'd buy these again if I need more. ... show more

I use these mats in conjunction with a Thermo Cube thermostatically controlled outlet to keep my red wiggler composting worms from freezing inside an unheated shed that I raise them in. The Thermo Cube activates the pads at 35 degrees Fahrenheit and turns them off when the ambient are around the Cube reaches 45 degrees Fahrenheit. This not only keeps my worms from freezing but keeps their bedding at a near perfect temperature for them to breed and make black gold (compost).     • Not just for seedlings
I use this with a thermometer that shuts it down once it reaches 70 degrees, and turns it on when temps start to drop again. Have used it for two winter seasons now and it’s awesome. I don’t use it for seedlings because I don’t care much to grow from seed, but use it to keep my terrarium of tropical plants a bit warmer than room temperatures so they don’t drop their leaves in winter. I don’t believe it gets super hot even without a temperature regulator, so if you don’t have/want one, I think your plants should be fine and not burn. I just didn’t want it running all day/night or have to fiddle with it. ... show more

i got these a little over a month ago just got done sprouting my first round of seeds and set up to start my second set about a week ago. went to set these up to use, and they stopped working already. how poor is the quality if they stop working after a little over a month save your money and buy elsewhere..... these are not worth the packaging they come in, or the box they are shipped in..... ... show more
