We gave our 8-year-old who loves drawing and animals Pixicade Pets for Christmas, and it’s been a big hit. It was easy to set up an account for her and scan the QR codes to add tickets to her account. She loves creating the pets, thinking up namea, and deciding on treats and toys to make for them. The app is relatively intuitive and seems to work well. After a few times helping her go through the steps of adding a new pet (taking photos, etc) she’s been able to confidently to all of it on her own.     • Amazing and great for spending time together.
I got this for my 9yo who loves video games, making board games out of paper and boxes and drawing. It was perfect for him because it is very visual. There are several game templates and as long as your drawing uses the right colors for different elements, you have created a playable game. You have access to games other people have made and there are ways to add effects or make changes on the iPad after you’ve drawn the game. It has a low barrier to entry but a high ceiling for creativity. I got one for myself so I can make games to share with him. Highly recommended and well worth the price. You can also get the app and pay to make games but getting the box is a better value. You can later use any paper and pens or even physical objects as long as they are the right colors. Only challenge is it takes a lot of memory and can get a bit slow on the older iPads. You can check out the games made by others by downloading the App before you buy. ... show more

It's a nice concept but this isn't quite what I expected. Lot of things could be better.It isn't much mostly an app,doesn't include much at all .It's not something my granddaughter likes to play with as it's not what she expected. I was disappointed in this

    • Cool idea but doesn't work well
The problem I seem to be having with this is that once you upload to the game even if it doesn't work you've now used of one of uoir games. There's no way to retake the photo. It does prompt you to check the quality but just because it looks okay to me doesn't mean that it always works. I've also found it very hard to take a good photo. I'm not sure what is going on but it's like sometimes you click the button to take the photo and just have to sit there trying to hold your hands still for a good minute while it just doesn't take the photo. A great addition to this would be some sort of stand to hold your device still for photos. My hands get shaky after trying to hold still that long. I also think this game would be easier for older kids. My six-year-old even with my help really struggles with it. I think that eventually he'll get the hang of it but there are some very specific things that you have to look out for in order to make your game work properly. Some of which I haven't actually figure out yet. We have yet to actually make one game that is totally functional. ... show more
