I have always had reels from Kastking but this one from Piscifun is of much better quality. It feels strong as a first impression. I completely disassembled it and I see that the pinion and the main gear are made of bronze so should be a durable reel. The only detail that I found is that the bearings of the spool had a very thick oil and did not spin as much. I put a thin oil with Teflon on them and they kept spinning much faster ... show more

I ordered this off of the reviews and honestly didn’t expect much. Took it out of the box and it really looked better than I expected. I immediately disassembled and lubricate the bearings and gears. Mounted it on a medium heavy action musky rod and it casts great. Very adjustable. Fits my hand nicely. Drag seems smooth but I haven’t tested it on a fish yet. I've been away from baitcast reels for 4 years after moving to the beach. Now that I'm back to some freshwater and bayou fishing I found a need for new equipment. Looks good and feels solid, doesn't cast as good as my other baitcasters but it's also quite bigger so that might be the reason, anyway I bought it for jigging bc of the spool capacity and drag/ 33lb . I think that for purpose it's going to do admirably.

I have about 5 hours into casting larger Jerk baits like grandmas and Jakes with it so far. I have not put it to the test with larger rubber lures yet but it was holding up well to full size swimming dawgs. I don't think magnum bull dogs will able to be thrown with this reel.

Not a bad reel for the price. I have it on a 7’ star stellar rod and it casts a country mile. Spooled with a decent mono I went 300+ casts with zero backlashes and the brake set to 3.
