Review of ”100 Yards 1 1/2 Inch Navy Blue Ribbon Blue Ribbon for Gift Wrapping": (Please refer to my reviewing guidelines at the bottom of the page). We use Red, White, and Blue ribbons like this on our boat to make what we call "crazy flags" or streamers that blow in the wind just above our national flags. Being that they are always elevated and in the elements they fade and deteriorate fairly quickly, so I ordered this blue ribbon for our ribbon stock. This ribbon comes in two 50 yd lengths wrapped on Styrofoam spools with no sides. The ribbon itself feels and looks to be of decent single face quality and should hold up fairly well for our purpose, especially when we cut it with a hot knife so that it doesn't unravel. I've done a bit of market research on Amazon and this single face ribbon is priced at 10 cents per yard which is just below the market average of 13 cents/yd at this 1.5" width and a quantity of 100 yards. Ribbon is very much like other items that drop in price when you purchase in bulk. For example, ribbon of this quality will cost closer to 18 or 20 cents per yard at 50 yd or less length. This isn't very important if you don't use much ribbon, but for us it's quite a savings over time. I've assigned this ribbon 4 stars because it is a nice single face poly weave at a lower than average price per yard. My responsibility as an Amazon Vine Reviewer: Considering the Amazon rules/regulations for being a Vine Member It is obvious that it is very important to Amazon that the person doing the review has indeed inspected, tested, used the product as well as being aware of the competitive situation of the market segment. One thing that I wish were better defined by Amazon is exactly what each star should represent from 1 to 5 so that every Vine member would use the same guide in that regard. 100 yards comes as two 50-yard spools in a nice window box. I appreciate this protection for the product. This is a single-faced ribbon, meaning that the reverse side is matte, not satin. Also this makes the ribbon thinner and costs less to produce. It is woven-edge so the edges don't fray, but of course you'll want to cut the end at an angle to avoid fraying there. It has good body and a nice sheen, but it is loosely woven (by satin standards) and will show the scars (wrinkles and bias-pull) from your first and second unsuccessful attempts at that perfect bow. You'll have to pay more if you're wanting something truly luxurious, or to use in sewing/apparel. (FWIW, my experience has been that Amazon ribbons on styrofoam spools (this is one) seams to be of cheaper quality than ribbon on cardboard/plastic spools.) This is nice for wrapping gifts. I wouldn't use it for sewing projects. It will launder okay, I expect, but is not sturdy enough to be, say, the straps or waistband of a child's sundress. 1 ½" width is in my opinion the nicest width for general gift-wrapping. It makes a 4-8" bow that looks nice on an average (shirt-box) sized gift. Disclaimer: I received this ribbon as part of Amazon's Vine program, but my policy is to always review as though I'd paid full price.     • Great Value Ribbon with Plenty to Work With

I got this purple satin ribbon to use for my gift baskets, and I was pleasantly surprised to find that it comes as two spools, each with 50 yards, for a total of 100 yards. That’s a lot of ribbon, which is great for anyone who does frequent gift wrapping or crafting. The color is a deep, rich purple that looks elegant and vibrant in person. The material is soft with a smooth satin finish. One side has a glossy sheen while the other side is more matte, giving it some versatility depending on how you want to use it. It’s flexible and easy to work with, making it great for tying bows or wrapping around baskets. The edges are finished well, so it doesn’t fray too much when cut, which is a big plus. One thing to keep in mind is that while the ribbon is satin, it’s on the thinner side. It’s great for decorative wrapping and adding a touch of color, but if you’re looking for a stiffer ribbon that holds its shape for structured bows, you might need to layer it or choose a thicker alternative. Overall, this is a great value for the amount of ribbon you get. The two separate spools make it easier to store and handle, and the quality is solid for general use. This review is for the Diueoly brand 1.5” ribbon, 50 yard roll two pack, in green. The vivid green color of this ribbon is spectacular. My girl has two favorite colors, and this is one of them. The ribbon itself is a shiny green, and has a nice soft feel. One side is clearly intended to be the back, so keep that in mind when using it for anything. I have several ideas for things I can use this with, but I’ll start with using it to make her boxed birthday gift look just a little more special. ... show more

This ribbon appears to be single sided satin since the backside is a little less silky/shiny than the front. At the time I ordered this, the listing was 100 yard of 1.5 inch width ribbon for $10, which seems a good value compared to the local craft stores. The ribbon is made in China.
