Charged it as soon as I unboxed it; took 1.5 hours for the blinking light to go solid, then go off. I really wanted it to pluck facial hair so I don't have to go to a salon and get it waxed. (I'm handicapped so that's a hassle!) It is much less painful than having wax pulled off IMO. I fully expected it to hurt more! There is still some pain, but it's ok for me. I was pleasantly surprised, when I tried it on my legs that it also works on them as well! I can do this and it's such a relief! Just to give further info- I'm a fair skinned European. Some of the hairs on both my chin/neck regions were pretty long (3/4 inch?) and some of the leg hair I tried it on was likewise fairly long.     • PAINFUL…but worth it

Alright. I’m a Greek/Mexican woman. I have some Hair, some thick thick dark hair. And unfortunately, both me and my boyfriend love some nice smooth skin. I don’t mean smooth looking, as you get with most electric razors, I mean SMOOTH. Waxing smooth. But I’m no rich girl, I can’t afford a full leg and a brazilian wax. In addition, wax is super messy and extremely awkward to do. Hair creams smell terrible and don’t leave me as smooth as i want, hand plucking is just irrational, and laser is expensive. Which led me to this product. Lord almighty, the first time I used this I almost passed away, but that was because I hadn’t read anything about it, so if you’re here reading this, I want you to listen. Step one: Shave two weeks in advance. The longer the hair, the more tugging action there is. You want the same length you get for waxing, about a grain of rice. Step two: Draw the HOTTEST bath you can manage. As close to boiling as possible. This epilator is waterproof, it is built for this I promise. Step three: Get Not Sober. For the first time at least, you want to be a little fuzzy. Maybe a drink, maybe a little toasted, or maybe just take some ibuprofen. And finally, step four: Get a distraction. I scope out the area I’m going to do well in advance, set my phone up with an ebook in eye sight, and I read a page as I’m going over especially painful areas. Take a small break while I’m turning the page, and then start again. This method works EXTREMELY well. I epilate about every week and a half to two weeks, depending on when I start to get bothered by the growth again, and it has gotten much less painful every time. Basically, if you like the feel of a fresh smooth shave and you’re not willing to sacrifice it, but you don’t want the investment of waxing or laser, THIS IS THE PRODUCT. Yes, it is decently painful the first time, but you’re in control! Take my advice, go at your pace, and soon you’ll be in a regular routine of a 30 minute session every couple weeks. And I use this product everywhere. Legs, armpits, bikini…lower than bikini….Absolutely flawlessly smooth, everywhere. 10/10 would buy again, I have suggested this product to every woman in my life. ... show more

This epilator works as expected. I've been using Philips epilators since 2001, starting with the Satinelle, switching to Braun, and then coming back to Philips. The problem with the cheaper models is the gear—it’s a plastic gear that wears out over time. Eventually, this affects the rotation and speed of the head. This model, on the other hand, has a metal gear, so I assume its durability will be much better. ... show more

I love that it removes the coarser hair and leaves the finer hairs. I use it mostly for my legs and occasionally my chin. Very economical. I used to pay the cost of this product for one Sugaring appointment. I love that I am no longer putting a bunch of plastic razors into the landfill. If you’re looking for a sleek smooth hairless affect this probably isn’t the product. I don’t mind having the soft fine hair on my legs. Also, you have to be tough. If you're a woman of a certain age and have unwanted facial hair....you need this. I'm not sure if it's intended to be used on your face, but it works!!!. I've waxed, shaved and tweezed and this is easier and faster than any of those. Pulling out multiple hairs at a time can be a bit sensitive, but if you've been waxing or tweezing...you will adapt to the discomfort quickly. My chin doesn't bother me at all and only the area right beneath my nose is the only place on my upper lip that is sensitive. I've tried other epilators and they haven't worked...but this one is the read deal. Love it. ... show more

I've been epilating for 20 years and this is my 5th epilator. Pros: I don't know if it's because of the speed or the plastic tweezers but it's not very painful for using it in the area down there (where they tell you not to ;) it did a really great job. I have now used it twice and this was the case both times. Cons: It did a horrible job at removing my leg hairs, the broke off and most of them didn't come out at the root so when they came back they were MANY ingrown hairs. I have now used it twice and this was the case both times. I don't know if this is the same reason of it working so well for the lady areas (speed and plastic tweezers?) or what. To note my leg hairs are pretty fine, but I've had no trouble with epilators handling them in the past. I'm going to look for a new epilator for my legs, but I might keep using this for my lady area since it was so fast and painless. I can compare for the lady area once I find a new one. I will be making an effort to buy one with metal tweezers since all of mine have been that in the past. ... show more
