  • Nobody Died!
Size: One Size
I found this lifesaver while reading reviews of the cheap $30 Chineseum brand knockoff and I'm so glad I got this one. I set it up on a 100' 3/8" cable and it held up great. I tested on a 1/2" cable too, and it fits. This trolly is a little bigger than a deck of cards, lightweight and built strong.

  • Puts the "zip" into a zipline
Size: One Size
After trying two other pulleys on a steel rope zipline, I bought the Petzl Tandem Speed and found zipping happiness. This unit is incredibly well built (as with most Petzl gear), strong and durable. The "speed" model (this one) has roller bearings in its sheaves, which make it glide so effortlessly that I accidentally sent my daughter into the tree at the end of the first trial run. The hangtag warns against this, but I couldn't believe how little friction the device actually has. Since then I've adjusted the end heights and the zip line has a nice ride out, then glides back. Happy kids, happy dad. As others have mentioned, this unit is surprisingly small - like about the size of a pack of cigarettes. This doesn't seem to matter, although I was sure that larger sheaves would be faster. Apparently not. This unit is also very easy to clip on/off of a wire and is then secured from below. It could be padlocked onto a zipline and left, but I unclip it when we are done to prevent theft and unauthorized use from the insane neighborhood kids. Overall, a great product and worth the higher price. ... show more

  • Awesome zipline trolley!
Size: One Size
We decided on the Petzl Tandem Speed Trolley for a couple of reasons. First, this trolley is highly rated in every review I found. It is well built and the metal wheels and bearings it should last a long time. Secondly and maybe more importantly, I especially like the ability to remove it from the zipline cable when not using, this should not only make it last longer, but it also prevents anyone from using the zipline when we don't want them to, I.e. When we are not home, etc. The only reason I didn't give 5 stars is the cost. It seems slightly expensive for what it is, but I would certainly buy it again. It is a fast little trolley and you can attach multiple carabiners if needed. We use a handlebar and a lifting strap attached to a Petzl Simba kids full body harness and are extremely pleased with the setup. ... show more

  • Nice Trolly - Great for Cable
Size: One Size
I recently put up a 90 foot zip line for my son. I used 1/4" galvanized cable. I started with the Petzi Tandem trolly even though it does state "for rope only" and now I know why. The steel cable quickly wears out the aluminum wheels, grinding a trough in them and slowing it down. I next purchased the Petzi SPEED trolly (saving a few bucks on the Tandem was a mistake and cost me more in the end). The SPEED has steel wheels and bearings instead of bushings. The wheels show no sign of wear and it is MUCH faster than the Tandem so you must adjust the angle of the zip line to slow it down. A word of caution, there is a label on the SPEED warning that you must have a way to STOP so you don't hit the tree at the end! Heed the warning! I used a zip line BRAKE BLOCK placed several feet from the end tree to prevent hitting the tree. So if you want to zip on CABLE get the SPEED but make sure you have a way to slow down and stop! ... show more

  • 1st Zip Line
Size: One Size
In my kids view, the zip line and pulley are great. In a parent view, this pulley is terrific: - It is removable, so I can reduce the liability to only when supervised - It's portable nature also allows us to keep it out of the weather elements - It held my weigth and the weight of my wife...so adult fun too - The kids 6 and 8 are both able to ride and do not turn uncontrolable circles - The enclosed barring assemblly must make it more durable, but it is fast even for only a 3 ft drop in elevation between trees 70ft apart. I read other pulley reviews, and then read reviews for this one. I bought this one and it mets the needs we had for saftey and value. I can not speak for other pulleys, but this one rocks for our Zip Line. Only one thing surprising: I thought it would be much larger, but it was only slightly larger than the size of my hand. I guess pulley size does not matter (in contrast to my orginal thoughts), cause it certainly does the job. ... show more

  • Make Some Fun, Install Your Own Zip Line
Size: One Size
Grandkid and neighbors or going to love this pulley. It flies! Excellent choice for those who want to create a fast/safe zipline. When I was a kid, my father installed what he called a "shoot the shoot" in our backyard. It was a neighborhood meeting place for years. The first thing he did when my wife and I moved into our house was bring over a cable and pulley and installed it in our backyard for his grandbaby that was not yet born. Again, we were the meeting place for neighborhood kids a an instant hit a birthday parties. ... show more

  • A Fantastic Pulley for SPEED
Size: One Size
The Petzl Speed is simply amazing. Sure, it costs a handful more than the regular Tandem and the Cable, but it is worth every penny. The pulley is really easy to use and has a GREAT feel to it. VERY smooth running action and great handling. Feels like a "trolley" and doesn't let you twist at all; makes zipping around very comfortable. Works great on my 5/8 Bluewater Static Line. Never again will I use a single pulley for a zipline, tyrolean traverse, or anything besides hauling systems. Definitely a worthy purchase. Get it with super saver shipping, pay no tax, and have at your door within a week! A fantastic product for all climbing hardware nerds out there! ... show more

  • Great quality but expensive.
Size: One Size
Very smooth ride for ziplining. I absolutely wanted bearing rather than bushings. I just don't know why they're priced so high. Not Amazon's fault. I looked all over the net and this was the best price going but a stamped steel frame and a pair of bearings/pulleys shouldn't cost 85 bucks. This isn't exactly complicated technology here. Still, this was the best price I could find for bearing zipline pulleys and they are high quality. ... show more
