I do tree work here and there as a side gig. I have been wanting this along with an eye loop and micro pulley so I could start climbing on more advanced friction hitches. With proper knowledge and training, these make tending slack,moving your tie in, and decending so much faster.

I bought this for saddle hunting where I use Kong Duck Ascenders and I bought some other oval carabiners from Amazon that were very heavy and wouldn’t rotate all the way through. This one checked all the boxes for me, lightweight and fully functional rotating all the way through Kong Duck!!

Petzl is never in question as a product. They have been around forever. They continue to innovate and improve. I am a big fan of the TrAct lock system. I started rope skills when the "locking carabiner" was a fairly new concept and those were screw lock. Twist lock came along and was very convenient but theoretically could come unlocked under forces from a strap or whatever. The TriAct gives you the confidence of a screw lock with the convenience of twist lock. My only weird experience in buying these is probably more about Amazon's interface. They tend to post 3 colors of the carabiner and the 3 gate systems (screw lock, TriAct lock, and ball lock). Occasionally they have non-locking. So i you do the drop-down selection of the color you want and the gate you want, the picture you see may not be what you are looking for. I ordered black carabiners with TriAct lock. The pic was black but showed screw lock. I got what I ordered. I'm fine. It was just a little weird. I did see another review where the person did not get what he was expecting, so I'm not sure what is going on there. Still, I love Petzl products.
