I really liked using this product. Its pretty durable, and helps a lot with wire management when used in conjunction with heat shrink. Really top notch stuff. I saw a couple reviews that stated it frayed when it was cut - obviously. Those reviews should be ignored because any wire mesh product will fray when cut unless the ends are heated. You can use a lighter to do this, it melts the ends together and keeps them from fraying, but still allows you to expand it to feed the cable through. ... show more

This wire loom is easy to use. I was surprised however to see how thin the filaments making up the loom actually are. It would be an advantage to purchasers to know 1. Diameter of the filaments. 2. UV rating of the product. My primary use of the loom is to protect trailer pigtail wires. I like it more than I did, inserting the line the tops and tails unravell, so it's important to check your measurements and use sticky flexible electrical tape to top and tail safely.

These sleeves fray way too easy but it works out if you cheat a little. I added heat shrink for both ends before cutting this off the roll. I crimped the connector for one side and heat shrinked the sleeve to the connector before cutting the other end. With the heat shrink already on it it was easy to just slide it and shrink it down in place. If you have a heated cutter thing that would solve the fraying problem. Ad says "Melt temp: 446, as our 3/8 braided wire loom are made with abrasion and flame resistant material." I'm giving it a 3 because it is definitely not flame resistant and it is technique sensitive. I got this for cleaning up my engine compartment and this stuff will melt if you put your heat gun too close for too long. You have to hold the heat gun far enough away while moving it back and forth so the loom doesn't melt and still heat up the shrink tubing. This will take some practice. As for the fraying, you can either put tape or shrink tubing on the end of the loom until your finished working with it. Cut it long and then you can snip off the frayed end close to connector and then tape or shrink tube it. I used it under my hot rod and it worked fine. ... show more

I bought two different sizes to fit different cords. The main purpose of this for me is to protect my cords from my cat bites. I size the length I need first, cut to the length, use a lighter to stop the frying and slide the cord in. Instead of using plastic ends that heat shrink I just use electrical tape, it makes each end look clean over the semi frayed edges.
