Description

Introduced in the 1960s as a folding version of the 649 model, the 714 were the first-ever folding glasses. This model requires ten additional manufacturing steps compared to the standard ones. Designed and crafted in Italy, Persol - from the Italian "per il sole" meaning "for the sun" - is a favorite among taste-makers and celebrities for its impeccable fit and incredible clarity. The brand's patented Meflecto temples offer a secure fit, while crystal-tempered sunglass lenses provide protection with distortion-free vision. With a brand character that can best be described as classy, exclusive, stylish, and unique, Persol continues to go beyond trends.

  • Amazing design
Color: Havana/Brown Polarized Lens Width: 54 Millimeters
If you're looking for good quality sunglasses well made and design with precision worth its money these glasses are incredible and best of all are foldable and easy to carry anywhere

  • The Perfect Sunglasses, Hands-Down!
Color: Havana/Blue Gradient Polarized Lens Width: 54 Millimeters
Apart from the Steve McQueen 60s and 70s chic, this is an overall excellent pair of glasses. It has a timeless elegance and it can be worn by anyone no matter young or old as the 714s have stayed faithful to their original 60s design. It just flatters your face no matter the circumstances as it has a versatility no other sunglasses have and the vintage cool look can be either formal or casual. Personally this is my third pair of 714s over a span of 15 years and they've been extremely resistant and durable. I don't fold them very often (so if you're not after this feature, perhaps the 649s would be better value-wise) but the style alone justifies the price. And with the discounted price on Amazon, I don't see any reason why anyone wouldn't go for a pair of Persols over some flimsy generic Ray Bans. I can't see any issue with them; only perhaps that they're nearly impossible to get them lensed (or re-lensed) as not many places accept the responsibility and the lenses are generally extremely expenses. But otherwise, 100% worth the price. In fact, buy a second pair! ... show more

  • Classic Style, Folds Easily
Color: Black/Green Polarized Lens Width: 54 Millimeters
These fit me perfectly. They fold easily and are sturdy. Was afraid of the folding part reading some reviews, but it's just fine. Nice to have a pair of glasses to throw in your pocket. They look great w typical Persol under stated class and timelessness.

  • Awesome classic pair of sunglasses, but beware slightly loose fit
Color: Havana/Crystal Green Lens Width: 52 Millimeters
These have a classic style and look absolutely great. Great quality. My only (slight) complaint is the fit. I actually bought another pair previously from a different vendor, returned them, and bought these to see if the first was a fluke. These are much better than the first, but they are still slightly loose. I’ve owned several pairs of Ray Bans, and they have fit like a dream. The Ray Bans weren’t tight, but they didn’t move around if you looked down or did any kind of physical activity. These Persols don’t hug your temples very tightly, so they have a tendency to slip down your nose. Still, they look great and are clearly great quality. The folding mechanism is also downright cool. For a standard pair of driving or out-and-about sunglasses, I would highly recommend, especially because these have that off-the-beaten-path coolness. If you’re going to be moving about or are concerned about a slightly loose fit, I would look elsewhere (e.g., Ray Ban). ... show more

  • Incredible craftsmanship and details
For the past ten years or so, Ray-Ban has had a major comeback and been all the rage amongst higher-end sunglasses. Nearly everyone I know has a pair of wayfarers or clubmasters (myself included). But there's an immediate difference you can feel when you hold or wear a pair of Persols versus Ray-Bans or Oakleys or other $100+ plastic sunglasses, and that's craftmanship. Where as the latter feel mass produced and unoriginal and, dare I say cheap, the Persols have a solid weight to them, an array of gorgeous details, and both a seemingly paradoxical blend of history/legacy and originality. ESPECIALLY true for this model. The folding/hinge mechanisms are a demonstration of form and function - they look beautiful and perform solidly. These glasses are beautiful but do not feel flimsy at all. I love even holding the small, palm-sized pouch containing my perfectly folded up pair of Persols. The only thing I'm even slightly miffed by is that the narrowest model is still to wide for me - they will eventually slide down my face, or, worse, if I bend over, fall straight to the ground. However, that's nothing a leash like Croakies couldn't fix. Additionally, I want to call out Amazon's spectacular customer service here. A third party seller accidentally sent me the wrong pair of sunglasses. Amazon went above and beyond to remedy the mistake. They not only told me to keep the other pair (also Persols, not cheap) but they refunded me the full amount so that I could place a new third party order for the correct pair. In this day and age, that was such a wonderful experience. ... show more

  • Elegant and the real deal
Color: Black/Green Polarized Lens Width: 54 Millimeters
I went into a major retailer after purchasing these to ensure everything about these glasses are authentic, and they very well seem to be. For less than the cost of many retailers, this is a great purchase. I was kind of shocked though, how tiny the carrying case is. This is a gift for my husbands upcoming birthday and he loves the classic look of the Persols. Polarized lenses are a bonus for his sensitive eyes. I do recommended probably purchasing a case where you don't have to constantly fold and unfold as they are delicate and I can see busy dads or if you are in a rush, getting irritated with having to delicately unfold and fold these everytime. In that case, I can see how they will break easily. Comes with certificate of authenticity, a nice carrying case (very small one), and a lens cloth. Exquisitely hand made in Italy, these are the real deal. They are getting hard to find in stores, so I was happy to be able to purchase these here for a lot less than the average retail cost. ... show more
