Description

Introduced in the 1960s as a folding version of the 649 model, the 714 were the first-ever folding glasses. This model requires ten additional manufacturing steps compared to the standard ones. Designed and crafted in Italy, Persol - from the Italian "per il sole" meaning "for the sun" - is a favorite among taste-makers and celebrities for its impeccable fit and incredible clarity. The brand's patented Meflecto temples offer a secure fit, while crystal-tempered sunglass lenses provide protection with distortion-free vision. With a brand character that can best be described as classy, exclusive, stylish, and unique, Persol continues to go beyond trends.

  • Love it!
Color: Havana/Brown Polarized Lens Width: 54 Millimeters
This was a replacement for a pair that I got about 8-9 years ago. Best sunglasses I’ve ever had! I forgot how amazing they feel brand new!

  • Great quality, disappointed in condition of frame
Color: Black/Green Lens Width: 52 Millimeters
Decided to try these because of the price and because I love the special edition Capri Persol glasses I’ve owned for years. The flex in the arms make these very comfortable to wear. Comes wrapped in original plastic inside Persol case and box. I didn’t realize the sunglass case was going to be so small—a size where your glasses always need to be folded to fit. I will be buying a sunglass sleeve for these because the hardware on these glasses make me nervous. Folding the arms in and out of the mechanism takes a bit of force and I’m not ready to put so much wear and tear on these glasses right away. I’m very disappointed that these glasses came with so many imperfections. I just received them today and the frame is dinged in so many places. Some are scratches and some are scrapes. Luckily the lenses are flawless. Tempered glass and not polarized lenses if you’re wondering. The damage to to frame makes me nervous about the authenticity of these glasses, but the quality and weight of the acetate, hardware, and lenses compared to my much more expensive Persol glasses make me believe these are genuine...just damaged. Holding off on wearing until I decide whether it’s worth returning. ... show more

  • The Perfect Sunglasses, Hands-Down!
Color: Havana/Blue Gradient Polarized Lens Width: 54 Millimeters
Apart from the Steve McQueen 60s and 70s chic, this is an overall excellent pair of glasses. It has a timeless elegance and it can be worn by anyone no matter young or old as the 714s have stayed faithful to their original 60s design. It just flatters your face no matter the circumstances as it has a versatility no other sunglasses have and the vintage cool look can be either formal or casual. Personally this is my third pair of 714s over a span of 15 years and they've been extremely resistant and durable. I don't fold them very often (so if you're not after this feature, perhaps the 649s would be better value-wise) but the style alone justifies the price. And with the discounted price on Amazon, I don't see any reason why anyone wouldn't go for a pair of Persols over some flimsy generic Ray Bans. I can't see any issue with them; only perhaps that they're nearly impossible to get them lensed (or re-lensed) as not many places accept the responsibility and the lenses are generally extremely expenses. But otherwise, 100% worth the price. In fact, buy a second pair! ... show more

  • Great value
Color: Havana/Blue Gradient Polarized Lens Width: 54 Millimeters
When I first opened the package I was impressed with the packaging and case that came with the Persol 714 folding model. I use them on the ocean here in Bermuda and find them to be very soothing with undistorted clarity of vision and with a comfortable fit. Never had sun glasses feel this good. I can wear them throughout the day with seemingly no strain at all on my eyes. Very happy. ... show more

  • Incredible craftsmanship and details
Color: Havana/Brown Polarized Lens Width: 52 Millimeters
For the past ten years or so, Ray-Ban has had a major comeback and been all the rage amongst higher-end sunglasses. Nearly everyone I know has a pair of wayfarers or clubmasters (myself included). But there's an immediate difference you can feel when you hold or wear a pair of Persols versus Ray-Bans or Oakleys or other $100+ plastic sunglasses, and that's craftmanship. Where as the latter feel mass produced and unoriginal and, dare I say cheap, the Persols have a solid weight to them, an array of gorgeous details, and both a seemingly paradoxical blend of history/legacy and originality. ESPECIALLY true for this model. The folding/hinge mechanisms are a demonstration of form and function - they look beautiful and perform solidly. These glasses are beautiful but do not feel flimsy at all. I love even holding the small, palm-sized pouch containing my perfectly folded up pair of Persols. The only thing I'm even slightly miffed by is that the narrowest model is still to wide for me - they will eventually slide down my face, or, worse, if I bend over, fall straight to the ground. However, that's nothing a leash like Croakies couldn't fix. Additionally, I want to call out Amazon's spectacular customer service here. A third party seller accidentally sent me the wrong pair of sunglasses. Amazon went above and beyond to remedy the mistake. They not only told me to keep the other pair (also Persols, not cheap) but they refunded me the full amount so that I could place a new third party order for the correct pair. In this day and age, that was such a wonderful experience. ... show more

  • They are HEAVY

Makes the bridge of my nose sore after a short period. They're very nice...but ultimately have limited use because of their weight.

Folding sunglasses. Make you look instantly cool and gives you the ability to sing. Maybe that’s why rock stars wear sunny glasses
